Storey Goes for 22 Again, But 'Cats Fall at Northeastern

BOSTON – Junior forward Ashley Storey (Cumberland, Maine) poured in 22 points to match her career high for the second straight game in the University of New Hampshire's 69-54 loss at the Cabot Center at Northeastern University on Wednesday afternoon.
The Wildcats, who got off to a quick start against the Huskies, are winless through their first five games of the season. They return home to play Bryant University in Lundholm Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
Northeastern improved to 4-0.
Storey made 10 of the 16 shots she took from the field. She also had three rebounds and a career-high four steals. Storey has scored 22, 22 and 21 points in her last three games.
Freshman guard Kari Brekke (Appleton, Wisc.) joined Storey in double figures with 10 points.

They Wildcats play Bryant in Lundholm Gymnasium on Sunday, Nov. 25 at 1 p.m.
UNH hits the road for games at Boston University on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. and at South Florida on Friday, Nov. 30 at 6 p.m.

HIGHLIGHTS
The first half included firsts for a couple of Wildcats.
Senior captain Alli Gribbin (Keller, Texas) started her first game for UNH. She replaced Maggie Ahearn (Marshfield, Mass.) in the starting lineup. Ahearn left Sunday's game against Sacred Heart with an injury and did not play Wednesday.
Gribbin scored five points and made both of her shots, a layup and a three-pointer, in the game. She also had a career best three steals.
Freshman guard Kali Grimm (Norwood Young America, Minn.) scored her first points as a Wildcat in the second period. She ended up with six points in the period and seven for the game and also had a couple of rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Wildcats jumped out to an early lead and a Brekke three-pointer with 6:55 left in the first period put them up 9-2.
The Huskies got it tied at 16-16 and moved in front 20-18 at the end of the period with four straight points.
Storey had eight points and three rebounds in the first period.
Northeastern got out to a 38-29 lead early in the second period.
Grimm scored six straight UNH points to cut it to 31-24 with 4:15 left in the period.
The Huskies ran the lead out to 42-27 at the half.
Storey had all 12 Wildcat points in the third quarter. Northeastern led 59-39 after three.
UNH went on an 8-0 run late in the game to cut the lead to 67-52 with less than two minutes to play.
