The Huskies tally three goals in the third period to defeat UNH 5-3.
BOSTON –The University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team held two one-goal leads on Saturday afternoon, but a three-goal surge from #6 Northeastern in the third period put the game out of reach as the Huskies swept the three-game season series.
Three different Wildcats were able to tally goals in the first two periods; both junior Carlee Turner (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and sophomore Maddie Truax (Gardner, Mass.) had goals in the first to overcome an early Northeastern lead, and junior Meghara McManus (Milton, Mass.) had a power play goal in the second, but three goals in the final four minutes for the Huskies sealed their victory.
After a career day on Friday, senior captain Kyra Smith (Littleton, Colo.) started her second straight game and followed up her performance with a 35-save afternoon.
The Wildcats go on the road for one game next weekend, visiting Hockey East newcomers Holy Cross on Saturday, November 17. They return home Thanksgiving weekend with a two-game home series against Rensselaer on Saturday, November 24 and Sunday, November 25, both games at 2 P.M.
