HARTFORD, Conn. – Adam Karashik broke a 2-2 tie when he scored at 10:42 of the third period for the Huskies as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to UConn, 3-2, at the XL Center on Saturday afternoon. Junior Marcus Vela (Burnaby, British Columbia.) and freshman Charlie Kelleher (Longmeadow, Mass.) each scored for the Wildcats.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UConn opened the scoring at 11:42 of the first period as Spencer Nass send a backhand pass from the slot to Karashik at the blue line who wristed it past freshman goaltender Mike Robinson (Bedford, N.H.) to give UConn a 1-0 lead.
- With 17 seconds remaining in the first period, senior captain Dylan Chanter (Armstrong, British Columbia) tapped a pass off of his skate to Vela in the slot and he fired it over the blocker side of goaltender Tanner Creel to even the score at 1-1. Junior Ara Nazarian (Boxford, Mass.) also tallied an assist on the goal.
- The Huskies outshot UNH 15-14 in the first period.
- At 2:35 of the second period and with UConn on the man advantage, Benjamin Freeman blasted a one-timer wide of the goal, but the rebound bounced out to Wyatt Newpower who fired it into the back of the net to give UConn the 2-1 lead.
- UConn outshot UNH 17-3 in the second period.
- At 3:24 of the third period, Chanter ripped a shot on goal that was saved, and Kelleher found the rebound to equalize the score at 2-2.
- At 10:42 of the third period, UConn regained the lead as Karashik slapped a shot from inside the blue line that found the back of the net to give UConn a 3-2 lead.
- UNH pulled its goaltender in the final two minutes but were unable to score as UConn recorded the 3-2 victory.
- UConn outshot UNH, 36-33.
- The Wildcats went 0-7 on the power play, while UConn went 1-7.
- UConn secured 37 face-offs, while UNH won 29.
- Robinson made 33 saves, while Creel posted 31.
- Today's start was the first of Robinson's career.
- With a goal in today's contest, Kelleher has now scored three goals in his last three games, while tallying two assists for five points.
