ORONO, Maine – With the Wildcats trailing 2-0, UNH scored two straight goals as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team tied Maine, 2-2, on Friday night at Alfond Arena, in the first of a two-game series between the two rivals. The Wildcats are 6-0-2 versus the Black Bears over the last eight meetings.
Senior Jason Salvaggio (Hanson, Mass.) and freshman Eric MacAdams (Salem, Mass.) each scored for the Wildcats, while senior Danny Tirone (Trumbull, Conn.) posted 33 saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Maine took an early 1-0 lead at 3:25 of the first period when Patrick Holway fired a wrist shot from the top of the left face-off circle to the upper corner of the net on the stick side.
- UNH outshot Maine, 9-8, while the Wildcats went 0-1 on the power play and the Black Bears went 0-2.
- Daniel Perez gave the Black Bears a 2-0 lead at 17:33 of the second period when he scored off a rebound from a shot by Cedric Lacroix.
- With just 3.3 seconds remaining in the second period, Salvaggio scored as he tipped a shot by freshman Max Gildon (Plano, Texas). Junior Marcus Vela (Burnaby, British Columbia) also posted an assist on the goal.
- Maine outshot UNH, 15-8, while each team went 0-2 on the man-advantage.
- At 1:08 of the third period, MacAdams sent a one-timer from the slot past Maine goalie Jeremy Swayman. Salvaggio and Gildon each tallied an assist.
- Neither team was able to find the back of the net for the game-winner as the contest ended in a 2-2 tie.
