Pogue, Healy Help 'Cats Stay Perfect at Home, Move to 3-1 in League

DURHAM, N.H. – Senior center Carlie Pogue (Cincinnati, Ohio) and senior forward Olivia Healy (Reading, Mass.) keyed a strong second half showing to lead the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team to a 66-45 win over UMass Lowell on Monday afternoon in Lundholm Gymnasium.
Pogue led all scorers with 15 points, 13 in the second half. Healy had 13 points, 11 in the second half. Healy had eight rebounds and Pogue had six.
The Wildcats improved to 12-5 overall and 3-1 in America East. They are 7-0 at home. UMass Lowell is 3-14 and 0-4.
Senior guard Brittni Lai (Irvington, N.Y.) scored 11 points and had nine assists. Senior forward Kat Fogarty (Westminster, Mass.) had eight points and led all players with nine rebounds.
UNH outscored the River Hawks 44-20 in the second half.

UNH goes on the road for its next two games: at Vermont on Thursday at 7 p.m. and at Stony Brook on Sunday at 2 p.m.

HIGHLIGHTS
The second half was all UNH.
The Wildcats were 0-for-8 in three-pointers in the first half. They made all five of their three-point shots in the second.
UMass Lowell led 25-22 at halftime and quickly pushed the advantage to 30-22.
Healy and Lai led a Wildcat surge from there. Healy hit UNH's first three-pointer from the right corner. Lai had a foul line jumper and then a couple of foul shots.
Healy nailed a trey form the left corner and with 5:12 to go in the third period UNH had its first lead of the game at 32-30.
The River Hawks were up 35-34 when Lai made two more foul shots and followed with a drive for a basket. Senior Payton Booth (Wadsworth, Ohio) had a steal and layup and Healy a pair of foul shots and UNH had an 8-0 run and was pulling away. The Wildcats led 43-37 after three periods.
Healy opened the fourth with her third three-pointer and after a couple of UMass Lowell foul shots, Pogue ran off eight straight points of her own and freshman guard Amanda Torres (Hudson, N.H.) contributed a layup.
The run spanning third period to fourth was 22-3 and UNH was in control at 56-38.

The River Hawks opened a 17-8 lead after one period. The Wildcats outscored the visitors 14-8 in the second period and trailed 25-22 at the break.
Pogue led UNH with seven points in the half. Fogarty had six points and five rebounds in the half.
The Wildcats turned things around with a 21-12 third quarter. Healy had eight points in the quarter, including UNH's first two three-pointers of the game. Healy added another three-pointer in the fourth period and the Wildcats pulled away.
