Lai, Pogue Each Surpass 20 Points in Win over Manhattan

DURHAM, N.H. – University of New Hampshire senior Brittni Lai (Irvington, N.Y.) scored a game-high 24 points and dished seven assists, while senior Carlie Pogue (Cincinatti, Ohio) tallied 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the Wildcats defeated the Manhattan College Jaspers by a score of 68-65.
The Wildcats, now 7-3 on the season, and a perfect 3-0 at home this season. The Wildcats bounced back from a 57-49 loss to Dartmouth on Tuesday.
The Wildcats never trailed in the game, keeping the game at a double-digit lead for most of the contest. UNH got their largest lead at the end of the game, leading by 15 points with 1:46 remaining in regulation.

The Wildcats have games at Boston College on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 3 p.m. and at Sacred Heart on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at noon.
They close out the nonconference portion of their schedule with a home game against Cornell on Friday, Dec. 29 at 7 p.m.
They will then stay at home for the conference opener against UMBC at Lundholm Gymnasium on Wednesday, Jan. 3 at 11 a.m.

Brittni Lai scored 24 points off of 6-11 shooting from the field, 2-5 from behind the arc, and 10-12 shooting from the free throw line. Lai also tallied four rebounds and a steal.
Carlie Pogue's 20 points came off a 7-14 shooting effort, and going 6-10 from the free throw line.
Olivia Healy (Reading, Mass.) chipped in with 11 points, going 1-2 from behind the arc and 5-8 overall. Healy also grabbed five rebounds and dished two assists.
Kat Fogarty (Westminster, Mass.) grabbed six rebounds and also added seven points, three assists, and three steals on the afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Wildcats outscored the Jaspers 23-13 in the first quarter, with UNH getting six points off turnovers and having ending the quarter on a comfortable 10 point lead; the 'Cats had a 12 point lead in the first quarter and shot 57% from the floor.
In the second quarter the 'Cats got their lead as high as 14 points, but Manhattan was able to cut the lead down to just four points in the final two minutes. The Wildcats led 35-27 at halftime, but the Jaspers outscored the 'Cats in the paint 20-14 in the first half and 13-4 in bench points.
The Wildcats only shot 27% (3-11) in the third quarter, allowing the Jaspers to outscore them 18-13 and cut the lead down to three points by the end of the third, 48-45. UNH would bounce back in the fourth and shoot 6-11 from the field and 7-12 from the free throw line finishing the final quarter outscoring Manhattan 20-10 on their way to a 13 point lead.
