Fogarty, Lai Lift 'Cats in OT Loss at BC

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Senior forward Kat Fogarty (Westminster, Mass.) and senior guard Brittni Lai (Irvington, N.Y.) scored 14 points each and the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team took Boston College of the Atlantic Coast Conference to overtime before falling, 64-55, at Conte Forum on Sunday afternoon.
The Wildcats are 7-4 for the season. BC improved to 5-6.
Senior forward Olivia Healy (Reading, Mass.) had 13 points and shared the UNH lead for rebounds with eight. Senior guard Aliza Simpson (Londonderry, N.H.) had eight points and six rebounds.
NEXT UP
The Wildcats play at Sacred Heart on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at noon.
They close out the nonconference portion of their schedule with a home game against Cornell on Friday, Dec. 29 at 7 p.m. on Camper Appreciation Day.
They will then stay at home for the conference opener against UMBC at Lundholm Gymnasium on Wednesday, Jan. 3 at 11 a.m. for Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day.

HIGHLIGHTS
BC had won the last 10 games in the series and UNH was looking for its first win over the Eagles since Dec. 17, 1995.
After holding its 29-20 lead from halftime through most of the second half, the Wildcats had to rally late to get the game to OT.
BC took the lead at 52-50 with a pair of foul shots with 1:59 to play in regulation.
At the other end of the floor, Healy, senior Peyton Booth (Wadsworth, Ohio) and Healy came up with successive offensive rebounds.
Lai tied it at 52-52 with a driving layup with 29 seconds left. UNH made a defensive stand and it was on to OT.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Wildcats powered their way to a 21-6 advantage in the second period and owned a 29-20 lead at the half.
Healy had nine points in the first half and Simpson had eight points and five rebounds.
UNH held off assorted BC surges and maintained a lead through the third quarter and past the halfway mark of the fourth.
BC took its first lead since the second period on a three-pointer by Milan Bolden-Morris. Bolden-Morris had four three-pointers in the game, all of them in the fourth quarter.
The Eagles scored the first nine points of overtime to take control of the game.
