Pogue, 'Cats Win, Eye Northeastern at Home Friday

DURHAM, N.H. – Senior center Carlie Pogue (Cincinnati, Ohio) scored 14 points and added seven rebounds to pace the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team to a 64-40 win over Colby-Sawyer College on Wednesday night in Lundholm Gymnasium.
The Wildcats improved to 5-2 on the season. They play Northeastern University back in Lundholm Gymnasium on Friday night at 7 p.m.
Colby-Sawyer, a Division III school on New London, N.H., played the game as an exhibition and remains 3-0 for the season.
UNH got out to a 34-8 lead at halftime and coach Maureen Magarity did not play her starters in the second half.
NEXT UP
The Wildcats are home for two of their next three games.
They play Northeastern at home on Friday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. and face Manhattan College in Lundholm on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 1 p.m.
UNH plays at Dartmouth on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 11 a.m.
The Wildcats have games at Boston College on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 3 p.m. and at Sacred Heart on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at noon.
They close out the nonconference portion of their schedule with a home game against Cornell on Friday, Dec. 29 at 7 p.m.

HIGHLIGHTS
UNH's fast start and impressive first half let Magarity give her backups plenty of playing time in the second half.
Senior center Morgan Bassett-Smith (Pickerington, Ohio) had a career-high 10 points and senior forward Alli Gribbin (Keller, Texas) a career-high nine off the bench for the Wildcats.
Bassett-Smith and Gribbin each had three rebounds.
Junior guard Emily Peters (Lindstrom, Minn) had eight points and four rebounds. Peters made two of her three attempts from beyond the three-point line.
Senior forward Kat Fogarty (Westminster, Mass.) scored four points and had seven rebounds and three assists. She played 17 minutes, the most of any UNH starter.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UNH raced to a 14-0 lead through the midway point of the first period and led 21-2 at the end of the quarter. The Wildcats extended the lead to 34-8 at halftime.
Magarity's team made 14 of its 29 field goals (48.3 percent) in the first half. The Wildcats had 12 assists on their 14 first-half baskets.
UNH had 20 assists on its 26 field goals for the game.
The Wildcats made 26 of their 63 field goal attempts (41.3 percent) in the game.
