NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Danny Tirone (Trumbull, Conn.) turned aside 34 shots to post his third shutout of the season while Patrick Grasso (Ankeny, Iowa) and Michael McNicholas (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) each tallied a goal and an assist as the 13th-ranked University of New Hampshire men's hockey team defeated Yale University, 4-0, on Saturday night at Ingalls Rink.

THE LEAD: The University of New Hampshire men's hockey team had 10 different players appear on the scoresheet as they shut out Yale, 4-0, on Saturday night in New Haven.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Junior forward Ara Nazarian (Boxford, Mass.) scored his fifth goal of the season at 10:01 of the first period off a cross-ice pass from senior forward Shane Eiserman (Newburyport, Mass.).
The second period saw no change in score despite two power-play chances and seven shots on goal for the Wildcats.
Sophomore forward Patrick Grasso (Ankeny, Iowa) notched his first of the season with a wrist shot off a pass from Brendan van Riemsdyk (Middletown, N.J.) 48 seconds into the third period.
Junior forward Marcus Vela (Burnaby, British Columbia) tallied his second of the season with a wrist shot from the slot with 8:38 left to play in the third. Senior Michael McNicholas (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) and sophomore Anthony Wyse (Newton, Mass.) both assisted on the goal.
McNicholas notched his second point of the night with a 5-on-3 advantage, power-play goal with 2:25 left to play. Grasso and freshman Max Gildon (Plano Texas) registered assists on the goal.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

There was only one power play goal on the night despite a combined 13 chances. New Hampshire went 1-7 and Yale went 0-5.
Tirone collected his third shutout of the season and ninth of his career.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE

McNicholas' two points marked his 19^th career multi-point night.
Grasso posted his 10th career multi-point game.

UP NEXT

The Wildcats travel to Providence on December 1 for the first game of a home-and-home series with the Friars (7:15 pm). UNH returns home the following day and drop the puck at the Whittemore Center at 7 p.m.
