Wildcats Begin Road Trip With Weekend Series at Rensselaer

New Hampshire looks to bounce back facing the Engineers.
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team, coming off a winless weekend against #4 Colgate, will look to bounce back as they begin a four-game road trip this weekend in Troy, N.Y. against the Rensselaer Engineers. The Wildcats come into the matchup with a 6-3-3 overall record, and a 2-1-0 road record, while the Engineers have a 4-6-2 overall record, 1-2-1 at home. The two teams will play a two-game series, with game one on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 3:00 P.M. and game two Sunday, Nov. 19 at 2:00 P.M.
The Matchup: RPI vs. UNH
The Wildcats and the Engineers have met just five times in their history, with New Hampshire holding a 4-0-1 record in the series. Their first matchup was in 2009 in Durham, N.H. while three of the five matchups were held in Tory, N.Y. The Wildcats and the Engineers last met in 2015 in a two-game series in New York on November 27 and 28, with a 3-3 tie in game one and a 2-1 UNH victory in game two.

'Cats in the Polls
For the fourth straight week, the Wildcats are receiving votes in the USCHO women's hockey poll. The first week, Oct 23, they received one vote in the poll; on Oct. 30 they received 12, and this past week, Nov. 4, they received 13. For the second straight week, they were the first team just outside the top 10 on Nov. 6. This week, they find themselves behind only Harvard outside the poll, receiving one vote in the poll.
In the USA Today poll, the Wildcats were receiving votes for the month of October; they began with one vote on Oct. 17. and then moved up to five votes on the Oct. 24 and eight votes on Oct. 31. Last week, the Wildcats were just on the outside looking in with 7 votes in the USA Today Poll.
The Wildcats are 0-3-0 so far this season against ranked opponents, losing to #7 Northeastern on Oct. 25 and to #4 Colgate last weekend. Colgate moved up to #3 after the two-game series.
Last Time Out
The Wildcats are coming off their first home losses of the season, falling to the #4 Colgate Raiders 7-1 on Friday afternoon and battling to a late 2-1 loss on Saturday evening.
Friday's goal was an unassisted breakaway by Nicole Dunbar (Coto de Caza, Calif.), and Saturday's was a hectic play in front of the net with Amy Schlagel (Blaine, Minn.) and Dunbar getting shots on net, but the second rebound found its way to Carlee Turner (Scottsdale, Ariz.) who was able to poke it through the crowd.
Freshman goaltender Ava Boutilier (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) bounced back from a nine-save, four-goals allowed game on Friday making 35 stops in Saturday's contest, keeping the Wildcats alive as they were outshot 32-23 in the contest.

Boutilier Gets the Start
Freshman goaltender Ava Boutilier has gotten the start in every UNH game so far this season; she has a 6-3-3 record in her first 12 career starts, stopping 316 shots and allowing 25 goals. She has a .927 save percentage an a 2.13 GAA.
Scouting Rensselaer
The Engineers (Troy, N.Y.) come into this weekend's matchup with a 4-6-2 overall record, 2-1-1 in the ECAC. They are coming into the contest following a 1-2 loss against Quinnipiac on Nov. 11. This came a day after their 2-1 win against Princeton University on Nov. 10.
The Engineers are led by senior forward Shayna Tomlinson who has a team-high 9 points. She's tied for the team lead in goals with three, and has six assists. Junior forward Jaimie Grigsby also has three goals, adding four assists for the second-highest point total on the team with seven. Junior forward Makenna Thomas continues the tie for three goals this season on top of two assists on the season for a third-best five points, tied with junior defenseman Josephine Hansen who posses five points with two goals and three assists.
In net, RPI has looked to junior Lovisa Selander in all 12 games, stopping 365 shots and allowing 25 goals with a 4-6-2 record. Her save percentage is at .936 on the season and her GAA is 2.07.

- Senior defensemen Amy Schlagel and Julia Fedeski (Algonquin Highlands, Ontario) were both drafted to NWHL teams this offseason, Schlagel going 18th overall to the Buffalo Beauts, and Fedeski going 20th overall to the Boston Pride.
- Fedeski is tied for first on the team in scoring with 11 points (5g, 6a). All five of her goals have come on the power play. Most recently, Fedeski assisted on Sasaki's first career goal against Vermont.
- Sophomore forward Meghara McManus (Milton, Mass.) is the other Wildcat with 11 points on five goals, six assists; she had her first career five-point game against Dartmouth with one goal and four assists.
- Carlee Turner is now third on the team in points with 10 after her five-point weekend against Vermont and her goal against Colgate. She has an even split of five goals, tied for the team lead, and five assists. She scored her first power play goal of the season against Vermont.
- Sophomore forward Taylor Wenczkowski (Rochester, N.H.) is second on the team in points with 10, and tied for first on the team with seven assists. She had one assist Friday and two assists Saturday vs. Vermont.
- Sophomore Nicole Dunbar is now up to eight points on the season with four goals and four assists after her two-point weekend against Colgate. Dunbar is on the longest active point streak with four points in as many games.
- Senior captain Carlee Toews (Grand Prairie, Alberta) has tallied eight points on two goals, six assists this season. She had the game-winning goal against Dartmouth on Oct. 22.
- Sophomore Tori Howran (Bancroft, Ontario) also has eight points and is tied for the team lead in assists with seven. She scored her first career goal against Holy Cross.
