Pogue Leads 'Cats to 10th Straight Win, 6-0 Mark in League

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior center Carlie Pogue (Cincinnati, Ohio) poured in 25 points to lead the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team to its 10th straight win, 58-50 over Hartford, in a battle of America East's top ranking teams on Sunday afternoon in Lundholm Gymnasium.
The Wildcats improved to 16-3 overall and 6-0 in the league with the win in their You Can Play and Alumni Day game. Hartford fell to 13-6 and 4-2. UNH is the only team in the league that does not have at least two losses.
The Wildcats extended their program best start to a season and their team record win streak.
Pogue made 10 of her 12 field goals and five of her six foul shots and also had eight rebounds.

The Wildcats play a Field Trip Day game at UMass Lowell on Wednesday at 11 a.m. They return home to play UMBC on Saturday at noon in game that will be televised on ESPN3.

HIGHLIGHTS
Pogue and the Wildcats started the day off in fine fashion.
In a brief pregame ceremony, director of athletics Marty Scarano presented coach Maureen Magarity with a plaque commemorating her 100th win as a head coach. Magarity reached the milestone in Thursday night's 50-44 win over Maine. In her seventh season as UNH coach, Magarity is now 101-97.
Pogue scored the first six UNH points of the game as the Wildcats raced to an 11-2 lead. They were on their way and never trailed in the game.
UNH was 23-for-44 (52.3 percent) in field goal attempts in the game.
The Hawks shot 21-for-55 (38.2 percent) from the floor. They lead the league in three-point shooting percentage, but were held to a two-for-nine day from behind the arc by the Wildcats.
Junior guard Brittni Lai (Irvington, N.Y.) had nine points and eight assists. Junior guard Olivia Healy had seven points and eight rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Wildcats put together an impressive first 20 minutes to grab a 30-15 lead at the halftime break. They outscored Hartford 15-7 in the first period and 15-8 in the second.
Pogue had 12 points in the half, 10 of them in the first period. Sophomore forward Ashley Storey had six points and five rebounds, all in the second period. Lai had seven assists and four rebounds in the first half.
UNH made 15 of its 23 field goal attempts (56.5) in the first half, while holding Hartford to 6-for-24 (25 percent).
The Hawks made a couple of runs in the second half and the Wildcats answered each one.
Hartford cut the lead to 52-46 with 6:23 left in the fourth quarter.
Healy drove for a basket at the other end and Pogue made three of her four foul shots and the Wildcats pulled away again.
