Lai, Pogue, Newcomer Healy Help 'Cats Rally, Snap Albany Streak
1/11/2017 10:22:00 PM | Women's Basketball
DURHAM, N.H. – Junior guard Brittni Lai (Irvington, N.Y.) scored 20 points and junior center Carlie Pogue (Cincinnati, Ohio) added 19 to rally the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team to a come-from-behind and rare win over the University at Albany, 71-58, on Wednesday night in Lundholm Gymnasium.
UNH had lost 11 straight games to the Great Danes, who are the five-time defending America East champions and came into the game with a 2-0 record in the league.
The Wildcats won their sixth consecutive game and improved to 12-3 on the season, matching their best 15-games start since the 1982-83 season. UNH is 2-0 in America East. It was UNH's first win over Albany since Feb. 3, 2011.
UNH plays at Binghamton on Saturday at 4 p.m. and at Vermont on Monday at 1 p.m.
Junior guard Olivia Healy (Reading, Mass.), a junior graduate transfer from the University of Richmond, scored all 14 of her points in the fourth quarter to spur another UNH comeback victory.
The Wildcats have trailed going into the fourth quarter in five of their wins.
NEXT TIME AT HOME
After two road games, the Wildcats return home to face Maine on Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. in a game to be televised on ESPN3. They play Hartford at home on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 1 p.m., again on ESPN3.

Healy's first two seasons at Richmond (2013-14 and 2014-15) ended prematurely when she suffered leg injuries. She sat out last season at Richmond and received an undergraduate degree from the school in December.
She is enrolled at UNH as a graduate student and received a waiver from the NCAA and is eligible to play immediately. She has another season of eligibility as well.
Rebounding helped Healy and her teammates turn the game around in a 28-10 fourth quarter. UNH was being outrebounded 31-22 after three quarters. They had a whopping 17-4 edge in rebounds in the fourth.
