7-1-0 Wildcats Host Yale Saturday ( 7 PM)

DURHAM, N.H. – The 7-1-0 University of New Hampshire men's soccer team is set to host Yale University on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. on Bremner Field. Saturday's tilt is the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
SCOUTING UNH: The program is fresh off a 3-0 home win over Northeastern University on Wednesday, Sept. 21. Sophomore forward Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.) buried a pair of goals in the match to bring his season total to seven and tying him for sixth in the nation in the category. His tallies came in the 18th minute of play and in the 57th minute. Freshman Jack Dickson (Bournemouth, England) notched a goal and an assist for three points in the game. Junior keeper Andrew Pesci (Windham, N.H.) made five saves in the game to earn his third consecutive shutout win.
TEAM STATS: The Wildcats currently rank fourth in the nation in total goals with 20 and are ninth in goals per game (2.50). They are outscoring opponents 20-7 through the first eight games. Overall, New Hampshire is averaging 6.75 points per game, ranking them 15th in the country. The 'Cats are also outshooting opponents 123-67, averaging 15.4 shots per game.
SCOUTING YALE: The Bulldogs are coming into the match with a record of 1-2-1 and have lost their last two games. Against Lafayette on Saturday, Sept. 17 at home, Yale was shutout by a score of 2-0. Lafayette got on the board in the fourth minute of play and again in the 33rd minute. The Bulldogs tallied a total of eight shots, four of which were on target.
Yale's leading scorer, Nicky Downs, has four points on a goal and two assists in four games. His goal came via a penalty kick opportunity. Henry Flugstad-Clarke, Ollie Iselin and John Leisman each have two points on one goal apiece. Goalkeeper Kees Schipper has played all four games and has a record of 1-2-1 with one shutout. He has made 11 saves on 17 shots faced this season.
WHAT'S UP NEXT: The Wildcats are off until Friday, Sept. 30 when they begin America East Conference play against UMBC at home. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Bremner Field.
