Men’s Soccer Hosts Siena for Home Opener Tuesday, Aug. 30 (7 PM)

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team is set to host Siena College for the 2016 home opener on Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. on Bremner Field.
SCOUTING UNH: The Wildcats are coming off a 3-1 win at Bryant University in the season opener on Friday, Aug. 26. Kyle Brewster (New Hampton, N.H.) got the scoring started for UNH in the 41st minute of play with an assist by Alex Valencia (Tracey, Calif.). Valencia gave New Hampshire a 2-0 advantage in the 45th minute of play for his third point of the game. In the 57th minute, freshman Ben Gleditsch (Oslo, Norway) tallied a goal that was assisted by William Picoux (Lorient, France). The Bulldogs got on the board in the 83rd minute to make it 3-1.
Junior goalkeeper Andrew Pesci (Windham, N.H.) earned the win for UNH as he made two saves on three shots faced.
SCOUTING SIENA: The Saints are coming off a 4-1 win in their season opener over LIU Brooklyn at home. Milorad Sobot gave Siena a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute of play, but LIU Brooklyn tied the game in the 15th minute. Alexander Tejera scored on a penalty kick in the 22nd minute to give the Saints the advantage and scored another PK in the 66th minute. Matt Crisafulli netted the fourth goal of the game in the 85th minute. Siena goalkeeper Aleksa Radosavijevic made two saves on three shots faced.
INSIDE THE SERIES: The Wildcats and Saints have gone head-to-head twice in the series history with the Wildcats holding a 1-1-0 advantage. The last time the two teams played was Sept. 5, 2015 when they battled to a 3-3 draw at Siena. Current Wildcats with points against the Saints are Chris Wingate (Hovik, Norway) with two on a goal while Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.) and Duff Thomson (Greenfield, N.H.) each have one assist.
LOOKING AHEAD: The next game for the Wildcats is Saturday, Sept. 3 at the University of Rhode Island. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. UNH is not home again until Sept. 21 when the 'Cats take on Northeastern University at 7:30 p.m. in Wildcat Stadium.
