Pogue's Double-Double Topples Manhattan, 59-42

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Junior Carlie Pogue (Cincinnati, Ohio) scored 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for her ninth career double-double in the University of New Hampshire women's basketball 59-42 win over Manhattan College Wednesday night at Draddy Gym.
Senior Kristen Anderson (Greene, Maine) added a career-high 10 assists on the night. Sophomore Ashley Storey (Cumberland, Maine) scored nine points, on 4 of 6 shooting, and grabbed six rebounds in 23 minutes of action.
New Hampshire (9-3) scored 24 points in the third quarter, two more than the first and second quarters combined. Manhattan fell to 4-7 on the season.
The Wildcats improved their record to 9-3 overall, and increased their win streak to three games. UNH has also won eight of the last nine contests.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After trading baskets to start the contest, UNH went on a 11-0 run to jump out to a 13-2 lead with 2:30 to play. A free throw and a jumper from the Jaspers left the first half 13-5, Wildcats. Pogue finished with eight points in the first.
Manhattan rallied in the second to trail 22-19 at half. With a 17-8 deficit, the Jaspers scored seven straight to trail two with 4:21 left in the half. Manhattan tied it up shortly later with a layup in the lane at 19-19. Lai finished the first half scoring with a three.
The third period scoring outburst was the seventh time this season UNH has scored 20+ in a quarter. UNH stretched its lead to 17 points in the quarter, the largest of the contest. The 'Cats held solid defensively in the final period and the game.
