Road Game at Intrastate Rival Dartmouth on Wednesday (7 PM)

DURHAM, N.H. – The 9-1-0 University of New Hampshire men's soccer team is set to travel to intrastate rival Dartmouth College for a night tilt Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m.
SCOUTING UNH: The Wildcats are coming off a 3-0 home win over UMBC on Friday, Sept. 30 at home in the first America East Conference game of the season. It was the fifth-consecutive shutout for goalkeeper Andrew Pesci (Windham, N.H.) who made four saves in the match. He was also named the America East Player of the Week for his performance. Sophomore Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.) got the 'Cats on the board in the 23rd minute of play on a header. Senior co-captain Chris Wingate (Hovik, Norway) assisted on the play as he sent a cross into the box.
Sophomore Alex Valencia (Tracey, Calif.) gave the 'Cats a 2-0 cushion in the 44th minute on a one-time shot. Freshman Jack Doherty (Meriden, N.H.) tallied the assist on the play as he sent the ball into the box from the right side to Valencia. Junior Juan Velazquez (San Francisco, Calif.) added another goal for UNH in the 76th minute of play that Wingate notched an assist on for his second of the game.
CURRENT STREAKS: Pesci and the Wildcats have held opponents scoreless over the last 483:57 with five consecutive shutouts. Over that span, UNH has outscored opponents 14-0 and Pesci has made saves on all 26 shots faced. Wingate has tallied at least a point in his last four contests (1g, 3a) while Arling has 11 points over the last three games (5g, 1a). Valencia has a goal and an assist over the last two games.
SCOUTING DARTMOUTH: The Big Green have an overall record of 1-2-5 and an Ivy League mark of 0-0-1. On Saturday, Oct. 1, Dartmouth played Princeton to a 2-2 overtime draw on the road. DC held a 2-0 lead after a goal by Noah Paravicini in the eighth minute and by Tyler Dowse in the 53rd minute. Princeton got on the board in the 55th minute of play and tied the game in the 60th minute. Big Green keeper James Hickok made five saves on seven shots faced in the match. Paravicini leads Dartmouth with five points on two goals and one assist while four additional players have three points on a goal and an assist.
UP NEXT: The 'Cats remain on the road and resume America East play with a tilt at Stony Brook University on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. UNH does not return home until Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m. when it hosts the University at Albany.
