Men's Track & Field Takes Third at URI Coaches vs. Domestic Violence Invitational

KINGSTON, R.I. – The University of New Hampshire men's track and field team placed first in two events on the day on its way to 76 team points and third place at the URI Coaches vs. Domestic Invitational Saturday afternoon (Feb. 7) at Mackal Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of Rhode Island.
The University of New Hampshire men's and track field program earned a top five finish in five events throughout the day.
Junior D'mahl McFadden (Penacook, N.H.) took a first place finish for the Wildcats in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.40 seconds for the Wildcats as he cut his time down to 10 seconds from last years meet. Sophomore Ryan Maney (Reading, Mass.) finished fourth, 24 seconds later.
Senior Zachary Chabot (Manchester, N.H.) took a fourth place finish in the 1000 meter run with a time of 2:32.38. In the mile, Jeffrey Moretti (Guilford, Conn.) placed fourth crossing the finish line with a time of 4:17.00.
Brendan McCarthy (Mansfield, Mass.) placed in the top five, third, in the in 3000 meter run (8:49.25).
New Hampshire came in third in the 4x400 relay consisted of Thomas Harter, Joseph Poggi (Dover, N.H.), Christopher DeCarlo (Derry, N.H.) and Ross Hardy (North Andover, N.H.) ran the event with a time of 3:28.91.
In the 13th event of the day, weight throw, sophomore Michael Shanahan (Dover, N.H.) had another great performance from the field claiming a first place spot (19.15m; 62-10.00 m). Shanahan has come in first every weight throw event thus far this season.
Freshman Alexander Tamulonis (Milford, N.H.) had a terrific finish in the pole vault event earning a first place finish (4.35m; 14—03.25m).
For the 4x800 relay, the final event of the day, the team of Moretti, Tanner Kent (Amherst, N.H.), Joseph Boles and Jeremy Wildgoose (Woodstock, Conn.) came in third overall with a time of 10:36.62.

New Hampshire takes a week off and is back in action Friday, Feb. 20 (3 p.m.) traveling to New York City to take part in the America East Championship at the New York Armory.
