
Individual Victories by Greene and McFadden Propel Men's Indoor Track & Field to 3rd Place at America East

NEW YORK – Kevin Greene (Silver Spring, Md.) and D'Mahl McFadden (Penacook, N.H.) of the University of New Hampshire men's track & field team recorded individual victories in Saturday's second day of action at the America East Indoor Track & Field Championships at The Armory. UNH amassed a total of 115.33 points to finish in third place.
The University at Albany took first place in the eight-team event with 191 points. Binghamton University was runner-up with 133.33 points. UNH was followed by the University of Vermont (98 points), UMBC (90), UMass Lowell (63), Stony Brook University (46) and University of Maine (43.33).
Greene was the individual champion of the 1-mile run with a time of 4 minutes, 12.37 seconds. He also competed in the 1,000-meter run and crossed the finish line in 2:27.47 to earn third place. At the conclusion of the meet, Greene was honored as the Most Outstanding Track Performer; he also was a member of the second place 4x800m relay team and anchored the winning distance medley relay team over the weekend.
Alexander Tamulonis (Milford, N.H.) was honored as the Most Outstanding Rookie. On Friday, he placed third in the pole vault by clearing a height of 4.65m.
McFadden was the fastest competitor in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.19 seconds. He also earned points for the Wildcats with a sixth-place effort of 22.39 seconds in the 200m dash.
John Prizzi (Wyckoff, N.J.) recorded a second-place finish for the second time in as many days with a runner-up effort in the 3,000m. He crossed the finish line in 8:27.02.
UNH placed a pair of runners in the top eight of the 500m with Christopher Poggi (Derry, N.H.) in third place at 1:04.23 and Tanner Kent (Amherst, N.H.) in sixth with a clocking of 1:07.88.
Drew Piazza (Danvers, Mass.) took third place in the 800m by crossing the finish line in 1:52.18.
Daniel Johnson (Lancaster, N.H.) competed in the heptathlon and accrued 4,643 points to earn fifth place.
Jeffrey Moretti (Guilford, Conn.) raced to sixth place in the 1-mile run with a time of 4:20.0 in the second heat, which was the same heat Greene competed in.
Zachary Chabot (Manchester, N.H.) ran alongside Greene in the second heat of the 1,000m and recorded the sixth-place time of 2:29.17.
Ryan Maney (Reading, Mass.) advanced to the 60m hurdles with McFadden and took eighth place in 8.46 seconds.
The Wildcats raced to second place in the 4x800m relay with an aggregate time of 7:44.87. Poggi ran the first leg in a time of 1:57.20, followed by Moretti in 1:53.58, Greene in 2:01.08 and Piazza in 1:52.98.
UNH's 4x400m relay squad of Dylan Pelletier (Orford, N.H.), Thomas Harter (Hampton, N.H.), Ross Hardy (North Andover, Mass.) and Kent as the anchor leg recorded a fifth-place mark of 3:23.35.
New Hampshire returns to action Feb. 27 at the New England Championships that are being held at Boston University.
