Men’s Soccer Pauses Conference Play for Game at Harvard (Tue., 7 p.m.)

DURHAM, N.H. – The undefeated University of New Hampshire men's soccer team will take a quick break from America East Conference play and travel to Harvard University for a night tilt on Tuesday, Oct. 6 with a start time of 7 p.m. Links to live stats and video are available on www.UNHWildcats.com.
LAST TIME OUT: New Hampshire defeated the University of Massachusetts Lowell in the first conference game of the year by a score of 3-1. Senior A.J. Albers (Eagan, Minn.) scored the first goal of the game in the eighth minute of play, but Lowell tied the game in the 15th minute. Junior co-captain Chris Wingate (Hovik, Norway), who assisted on UNH's first goal, scored what would prove to be the game winner in the 77th minute of play to give UNH a 2-1 lead. Senior Connor Pauley (Londonderry, N.H.) built the Wildcats' lead with 50 seconds left in the second half.
UNH keeper Ryan Carpenter (Newmarket, N.H.) made one save on two shots faced and earned the win in net for the Wildcats. UNH outshot the River Hawks, 22-4.
SCOUTING THE 'CATS: Wingate leads the Wildcats in points as he has 10 from four goals and two assists. Two of his four goals have been game winners. Senior Ben Ramin (Baldwinsville, N.H.) has seven points on three goals and an assist. Arling has one goal and four assists for six points while seniors Fazal Nabi (Portland, Maine) and Pauley have six points on two goals and two assists. Albers also has six points from three goals. Junior Karl Frisk (Molndal, Sweden) has three points on a goal and an assist as Riley Ellis (Goffstown, N.H.) and Alex Valencia (Tracy, Calif.) each have two points on a goal each. Senior Lukas Goerigk (Berlin, Germany) has a pair of assists while junior Duff Thomson (Newton, N.H.) has one assist.
Carpenter currently holds a record of 6-0-2 with three shutouts, a goals against average of 0.83 and a save percentage of .667. Sophomore Andrew Pesci (Windham, N.H.) has made one start and has a 1-0-0 record with a shutout.
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON: Harvard (2-4-2) is coming off a 3-1 league at Ivy League opponent Yale on Saturday. Yale took a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute of play, but Harvard leveled the score as Yale committed an own goal in the 14th minute of play. Jake Freeman notched the eventual game winner in the 63rd minute of play for the Crimson while Tim Schmoll gave Harvard a 3-1 lead in the 89th minute. Harvard keeper Evan Mendez picked up his second win of the season in the match as he made two saves on three shots faced.
Freeman leads Harvard on offense with six points on three goals. Two of his have been game winners. Oliver White has four points on two goals as Michael Klain has three points with three assists. Schmoll has three points with a goal and an assist. Sam Brown has two points from two assists as Philip Fleischman has one goal for two points.
HEAD TO HEAD vs. HARVARD: The Crimson lead the all-time series against UNH by a record of 5-2-0. The first match took place on Sept. 27, 1990 while the last time the two teams met was Sept. 23, 2009. Harvard is 2-1 vs. UNH at home. The last time the two teams met, Harvard won by a score of 1-0 at UNH.
