Junior goalie David Fessenden (Parker, Colo.) was outstanding in net in his first start as a UNH Wildcat as he made 31 saves with six in overtime to keep #8 Providence from scoring the game-winner.
In their third straight matchup against the nationally-ranked Fryers, Fessenden helped the ‘Cats gain an extra point by sending the game to overtime.
Fessenden did not let up a goal during the overtime period which gave UNH the time to win the game.
His 31 saves also counted as a season-high for UNH goalies.
Next up for the Wildcats will be a home-and-home series with Northeastern on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 5-6.
