Men’s Soccer Announces Team Awards

Brossel wins MVP
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's soccer program has announced its 2025 team awards.
2025 UNH Men's Soccer Award Winners:
Robert Black Most Valuable Player Award: Mattéo Brossel
Harvey Johnson Most Inspirational Player Award: Matteo Piccardo
Walter Weiland Most Dedicated Player Award: Mattéo Brossel
Glenn Aborn Most Improved Player Award: Gershom Matimano
H. Richard Sandler Academic Achievement Award: Mattéo Brossel, Scott Williams, Christopher Glenney
Coaches Award: Jiwoo Lee
Lucas Currier Award: Daniel Firek
Mike Veneto Golden Boot Award: Elias Khodri

Brossel won the Robert Black Most Valuable Player Award and the Walter Weiland Most Dedicated Player Award. He was named to the America East All-Conference First Team for the second straight season, while he earned United Soccer Coaches All-Northeast Region Second Team accolades.


Piccardo earned the UNH Men's Soccer Most Inspirational Award through his relentless work ethic, leadership and unwavering commitment to his teammates. His positive attitude and determination both on and off the field set a standard for the program, inspiring those around him to compete with passion, resilience and pride every day.

Matimano received the Glenn Aborn Most Improved Player Award. He appeared in 10 games with six starts and scored his first collegiate goal in the 3-2 win at Binghamton on Sept. 27. Matimano was also selected to the America East All-Rookie Team.

Brossel, Glenney and Williams each recorded a 4.0 GPA to win the H. Richard Sandler Academic Achievement Award.

Lee earned the UNH Men's Soccer Coaches Award for his dedication, consistency and team-first mentality throughout the season. Stepping into a leadership role and playing out of position to help the team succeed, Jiwoo always put the group first and embraced every challenge with professionalism and determination. His work ethic, versatility and commitment to the program made a lasting impact both on and off the field.

Firek earned the Lucas Currier Award for exemplifying the character, leadership and dedication that defines the spirit of UNH Men's Soccer. Despite joining the program as an incoming player this spring, Daniel made an immediate impact through his relentless work ethic, positive attitude and commitment to his teammates. His ability to quickly embrace the culture of the program and lead by example reflected the selflessness, perseverance and pride that the Lucas Currier Award represents both on and off the field.

Khodri won the Mike Veneto Golden Boot Award for leading the team with seven goals and 15 points. He was named to the America East All-Conference First Team and to the United Soccer Coaches All-Northeast Region Second Team.
