Before UNH
Doherty joins the Wildcats after a standout career at Longmeadow High School, where she established herself as one of the top swimmers in Massachusetts.
A multiple-time state champion, Doherty excelled in both freestyle and butterfly events throughout her high school career. As a senior, she won Division I state titles in the 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle relay while also capturing Western Massachusetts championships in all three events. She earned All-Western Massachusetts First Team honors, was selected to the Super 7 team, and set Longmeadow High School and Western Massachusetts records in the 100 butterfly.
During her junior season, Doherty became the only swimmer at the Division II State Championships to win four events, capturing titles in the 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay. She also won Western Massachusetts titles in all four events and helped Longmeadow place second at Western Massachusetts and third at the Division II State Championships.
As a sophomore, she helped Longmeadow capture Western Massachusetts and league championships while leading the program to its highest-ever finish at the Division II State Championships with a runner-up team finish. She won state championships in the 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay while breaking the school and regional records in the 100 butterfly for the first time.
Doherty competed for Sunrise Swim Club and Bluefish Swim Club under coaches Peter Davis, Amy Parent and Nick Rice.
Academic Honors
Doherty combined athletic success with outstanding academic achievement. She earned First Honors during all four years of high school, maintained a weighted GPA above 4.0 throughout her academic career and was inducted into the National Honor Society.
She also served on the executive board of her school's Writing Center.
Personal
Daughter of John and Carrie Doherty. Has three sisters, Seraphina, Lux and Emily, and a brother, Jack.
Doherty plans to major in chemistry and hopes to become a physician assistant. She also aims to continue improving throughout her collegiate swimming career while maintaining a strong academic record.
Athletics run in the family. Her brother, Jack, competed at the U.S. Olympic Trials and swam collegiately at William & Mary, while her father played rugby at Southern Connecticut State University.
Outside the pool, Doherty enjoys cooking, gardening, tending houseplants, reading, skiing and doing her own nails.

Fun Fact
Doherty's family vacations in Costa Rica each year. One of her favorite family memories involves her mother successfully staging a photo of a monkey "playing" Jenga with pistachios outside their vacation home.
