Michelle Mallett is one year into her role as Associate Director of Athletics for Sports Medicine in 2025-26. Michelle is responsible for the oversight of UNH’s athletic training department and collaborating with the extended support team and coaches to provide exceptional prevention, care, and rehabilitation of Wildcat student-athletes. Mallett previously served eight years (2016-24) as an associate head athletic trainer. While serving as the primary athletic trainer for the women’s ice hockey program, Michelle was responsible for hiring, orientating, coordinating, and overseeing new athletic training staff, sports dietitians and mental health clinicians. She has also been involved in various NCAA, league and university committees and initiatives in addition to managing the medical care for student-athletes during national and conference competition, including the 2024 Women’s Ice Hockey Frozen Four.
Mallett supervises & directs a number of administrative duties as well as programs that assist in the well-being of the student athletes. These include but aren’t limited to the Wildcat Optimal Wellness Program, UNH Athletics Drug/Alcohol Education, Screening and Rehabilitation Program, and is the direct supervisor of the Director of Sports Nutrition. She also oversees the external site coordination of athletic training students within the department. In addition to Mallett’s administrative duties, she directs the medical care and coverage of the UNH women's ice hockey team.
Mallett began working with Team USA Ice Hockey in the summer of 2022. She was an athletic trainer for the Girls National U17 development camp in St. Cloud, Minn., where she provided medical care for the top female ice hockey athletes within that age group. In the summer of 2023, she worked with Team USA Ice Hockey again for the girls U18 select camp in Miami, Ohio. Summer of 2024, Mallett worked as an athletic trainer for the girls U18 select camp in Lake Placid and stayed on for August Fest. During August Fest, she was part of a medical team providing care for Team USA U18, the collegiate team, and national team. This summer, she will be returning to Miami, Ohio to be lead athletic trainer for Girls National U19 Training Camp and Girls 16/17 Camp.
Mallett came from Middle Tennessee State University, where she served as the women's basketball head athletic trainer and associate athletic trainer in the sports medicine department. In addition to working with the MTSU sports medicine department, she was an adjunct professor within the university athletic training curriculum.
Prior to MTSU, she worked as the associate athletic trainer as well as women's basketball and lacrosse head athletic trainer at Mount Saint Mary's University from 2009-12.
Mallett earned her master's in Kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise science and health at Louisiana Tech University. While at LA Tech, she provided athletic training services to the Bulldogs' cross country, track & field, and volleyball programs. She also served as a graduate assistant within the sports medicine department. Additionally, while she completed her graduate assistantship, Mallett taught undergraduate courses in the exercise science department.
Mallett graduated with her bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from South Dakota State University. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association (NATA) and is certified in CPR/AED through the Red Cross.
