Mandy Pennewell joined the UNH women's basketball staff as an assistant coach in July 2021.
Pennewell comes to New Hampshire from Northeastern University, where she was an assistant coach for three seasons. She worked primarily with the guards and mentored two 1,000-point scorers, one of whom was the 2019 CAA conference statistical leader in scoring, assists and free throw percentage.
In that 2019 season, Pennewell helped guide the Huskies to the WNIT and their third 20-win season.
Prior to NU, Pennewell was the recruiting coordinator at Iona College for three seasons. She also specialized with the guards, monitored player development plans and assisted with the implementation of defensive strategies and philosophy. In the 2016 season, Pennewell helped lead the Gaels to a 23-win season that featured the program’s first ever MAAC championship and NCAA tournament appearance.
Pennewell began her coaching career at Le Moyne College from 2009-13 and served as the stand-in head coach at the conclusion of the 2012-13 season. She then spent two seasons at Southern New Hampshire University, where she earned a master’s degree in Sports Management and Athletic Administration, before going to Iona.
Pennewell was a four-year letterwinner and two-time captain at Quinnipiac University. She scored 1,231 career points and ranks among the program leaders in 3-point field goals made (175) and 3-point field goal percentage (.349). As a junior, Pennewell was named to the All-NEC Second Team as she led the Bobcats to 25 wins and a WNIT appearance.
She graduated from Quinnipiac in ’09 with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology.
