Martinez Earns Second Hockey East Goaltender of the Week Nod

Martinez denied 74-of-78 shots faced in UNH’s games with Merrimack and No. 13 Holy Cross
AMESBURY, Mass. — University of New Hampshire junior goaltender Noemi Martinez (Glen Ridge, N.J.) was named Hockey East Stop It Goaltending Co-Goaltender of the Week on Monday (Feb. 9).
Martinez posted another strong weekend in net for the 'Cats in their pair of wins, denying 41-of-43 shots faced and turning in a .953 save percentage in New Hampshire's 4-2 win over Merrimack on Friday (Feb. 6), before logging another 33 saves for a .943 save percentage in the Wildcats' 3-2 win on Saturday (Feb. 7) at No. 13 Holy Cross. In total, Martinez closed the weekend denying 74-of-78 shots faced, good for a .965 save percentage.
The nomination marks Martinez's third recognition of the season and second Goaltender of the Week nod in as many weeks, while also previously taking home Hockey East Army ROTC Defender of the Week on Dec. 1.

The Wildcats conclude their season series with No. 6 UConn (21-7-2, 14-5-1 HEA) at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex, on Friday, Feb. 13, when the Wildcats face the Huskies for a 2pm puck drop.
