Sadie Makokis Named Hockey East Co-Defender of the Week

Makokis led the Wildcats with five points against LIU
AMESBURY, Mass. — University of New Hampshire junior defenseman Sadie Makokis (St. Albert, Alberta) was named Army ROTC Co-Defender of the Week on Monday (Jan. 5).
Makokis was a key contributor for the Wildcats in their weekend sweep over Long Island University, earning a team-leading five points across the pair of games while averaging 2.50 points per game. In the Wildcats' 4-0 win over the Sharks on Saturday (Jan. 3), Makokis notched a career-high three assists for the first three-point game in her career, before logging her second goal of the season alongside another assist in the team's 6-1 win on Sunday (Jan. 4). Additionally, Makokis closed her weekend with five tries on net and a plus-three rating.
With the award, Makokis becomes the eighth winner of a weekly award this season, joining Nina Rossi (Pittsgrove, N.J.) (Oct. 6, Nov. 10, Dec. 8), Noemi Martinez (Glen Ridge, N.J.) (Dec. 1), Addison Spitz (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) (Nov. 3), Josie Linn (Excelsior, Minn.) (Nov. 3), and Aurora Kahlert (Maple Ridge, British Columbia) (Oct. 13).
