Kelly Harty netted a goal in her fourth-straight game in the loss
DURHAM, N.H. — The University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team was edged 2-1 by Boston University (6-11-3, 5-6-2 HEA) on Saturday evening (Jan. 10) at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-New Hampshire netted the opening goal midway through the first period, when Kelly Harty (Billerica, Mass.) took a centering feed in the Terriers' zone from Addison Spitz (Grosse Pointe, Mich.), before firing on net, collecting her own rebound, and cashing in on the second-chance shorthanded effort. With the score, Harty extended her goal streak to four games, dating back to the Wildcats' 2-2 tie with Maine on Dec. 6.
-With just under a minute to go in the opening frame, the Terriers tied it up on a Luisa Welcke glove-side rip from the face-off circle, making it a 1-1 score.
-BU nabbed their first lead of the night midway through the second period, when Sydney Healey recovered the puck in her own zone, before skating through the neutral zone into the Wildcats' side of the ice, where she fired on net from the left face-off dot for the 2-1 edge.
-Neither team found the back of the net the rest of the way, resulting in the Terriers' 2-1 win.
