UNH Outlasts Binghamton In Triple OT, 88-82

Nathan Davis Records 300th Career Win
DURHAM, N.H. – Freshman guard Tyler Bike (Merrimack, N.H.) scored a career-high 19 points and junior forward Belal El Shakery (Alexandria, Egypt) recorded a double-double of 16 points and 16 rebounds to lead the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team to an 88-82 triple-overtime win against Binghamton University at Lundholm Gym on Thursday night.
Bike, the reigning America East Rookie of the Week, set his career high in both points and 3-pointers (five) while matching his career high of four assists. El Shakery grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds as part of his fifth double-double of the season.
Junior guard KiJan Robinson (Apopka, Fla) scored 16 points, junior forward Davide Poser (Veneto, Italy) and junior guard Comeh Emuobor (Raleigh, N.C.) tallied 12 points apiece to give the Wildcats five players who scored in double digits.
The win marked the 300th career victory for UNH head coach Nathan Davis, who has 30 wins at UNH, 129 at Bucknell University and 141 at his alma mater, Randolph-Macon.
Binghamton's top scorer was Wes Peterson with 28 points and Zyier Beverly had 21.
UNH made the impeccable comeback to improve to 6-12 overall and 2-3 in America East while Binghamton sits at 4-17 overall, 0-6 AE.

FIRST HALF
- El Shakery rocked the rim with a dunk to put the Wildcats on the board, tying the score at 2–2 early in the first half.
- Bike ended a Binghamton run with 3-pointer at 11:33 to cut the deficit to seven points, 18-11.
- Jack Graham (Smithfield, R.I.) tallied his 30th 3-pointer on the season at 10:08 to once again lift UNH within single digits, 22-14.
- Emuobor led the 'Cats in the first half, scoring 10 points, securing five rebounds, and ending the half shooting 5-6 from the floor.
- Binghamton went on a 12-2 run to end the first half to give the visitors a 14-point lead, 40-26, at the half.
SECOND HALF
- The Bearcats extended the margin to 18 points before Bike hit a 3-pointer at 18:38 to advance the score to 44-29. Poser followed with a 3-ball at 15:52 to trim the deficit to 12 points.
- Robinson's floating jump shot at 10:47 and Squire's layup on the next UNH possession cut the lead down to 11, 53-42.
- The Wildcats closed within single digits, 53-45, on Bike's 3-pointer at 8:20, and his steal translated into a layup at 6:54 to close the gap to six points.
- Both of Squire's free throws were good at 3:45 to diminis the lead to just four points, 55-51.
- El Shakery hit a foul shot at 2:02 to make it a one possession game, 55-52.
- Bike sank a ball at 1:18 to tie the game for the first time since early in the first half.
- With the Wildcats in the bonus, they secured the lead for the first time – 57-55 – when Squire sank two free throws to cap a 21-4 run with 51 seconds on the clock
- Binghamton's Beverly snuck through for the dunk to tie the game at 57–57 with 28 seconds left in regulation.
- With the last possession in regulation, Wildcats missed a field goal at the buzzer to send the game into overtime.
FIRST OVERTIME
- Robinson buried the Wildcat's eighth 3-pointer of the night at 4:42, which Binghamton responded with a 3 of its own to tie the score, 60-60.
- After a tip-in by El Shakery that tied the score at 64–64 with 15 seconds on the clock, Binghamton missed the front end of the 1-and-1 free throw and the Wildcats missed again at the buzzer to push the game into double overtime.
DOUBLE OVERTIME
- The Bearcats scored two free throws at 4:02, which Poser answered with a 3-pointer, assisted by Bike, to give UNH a 67-66 lead at 3:43.
- Bike drilled an electric 3-pointer in the final two minutes of double overtime (1:56) to give the Wildcats a three-point lead, 72-69.
- Binghamton and Poser traded field goals, putting the score at 74-73 in favor of New Hampshire with six seconds left.
- After Bike made one foul shot, free throws from Binghamton's Peterson tied the score at 75–75 with five seconds remaining in double overtime.
TRIPLE OVERTIME
- El Shakery's driving layup put the 'Cats up by one, 81-80, midway through the third extra session.
- Robinson made two free throws at 1:34 to extend the advantage to 83-80.
- Poser stole the ball with 39 seconds left and, following a UNH timeout, El Shakery hit two more foul shots to give UNH an 85-80 lead with 30 seconds on the clock.
- Bike added a foul shot at 21 seconds and Squire's two free throws with 13 seconds to play cemented the 88-82 win for the Wildcats.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- Bike scored a career-high 19 points in his third career start, overwriting his previous high of 10 points that he secured Jan. 19 at Maine.
- Bike totaled five 3-pointers, a new career high for the freshman.
- Poser matched his career high of seven rebounds.
- Squire matched his personal best of four assists.
GAME NOTEBOOK
- The last time the Wildcats played at least three overtimes was Jan. 19, 1996 at Maine, where UNH prevailed 109-106 in four overtimes.
- UNH outscored Binghamton 31-17 in the second half, making four three pointers in contrast to the Bearcats' zero.
- Rebounds were even at 48 but the Wildcats had an 18-9 edge on the offensive glass, which led to a 16-10 advantage in second-chance points.
