Wildcats Play #2 Vermont In Jersey Mikes America East Quarterfinals Saturday
BOSTON, Mass. - Junior guard Sami Pissis (Paris, France) has been named to the All-Conference third team and freshman guard Khalil Badru (New Britain, Conn.) has been named to the All-Rookie team as determined in a vote by the league's head coaches, who could not vote for their own players on Monday.
Pissis averaged 15.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game in his first season with the Wildcats. His impressive stint with UNH was highlighted by his career high of 33 points at UMass Lowell on Jan. 25 and a 21-point performance followed by a game-winning three-pointer to erase a 17-point UMass Lowell lead on Feb. 15.
Badru earned three America East Rookie of the Week awards to highlight his freshman year with the 'Cats. Aside from his high-flying, jaw-dropping plays, he showed up on the stat sheet for the Wildcats. Badru notched four double-doubles, a seven-game double-digit point streak (14 games with double-digit scoring), and a career high of 21 points in the 'Cats 80-69 win over NJIT.
The Wildcats finished conference play as the seventh seed with a 6-10 record. They will travel to Vermont for a 3 p.m. tip-off on Saturday, March 8, in the Jersey Mikes America East Quarterfinals (ESPN+).
