Women's Hockey Falls to Holy Cross 3-2

Six players logged a positive plus/minus in the loss.
DURHAM, N.H. — The University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team dropped a 3-2 decision to Holy Cross (11-5-1, 4-4-1 HEA) on Saturday evening (Nov. 22) at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex.
Neither team broke through on offense in the opening period, keeping the 0-0 deadlock intact. Through 20 minutes of play, New Hampshire outshot the Crusaders nine to four, paced by a three-shot period from Danika Botterill (Portage La Prairie, Manitoba). Defensively, Sedona Blair (Eden Prairie, Minn.) made five saves while Julia Cabral (Lee, N.H.) made the lone shot block for the 'Cats.
New Hampshire took the lead 2:13 into the second frame when Josie Linn (Excelsior, Minn.) connected on a try in front, giving the Wildcats the lead. Holy Cross responded 4:16 later, when Violet Carroll poked the puck into the net following a sweeping effort from Alexia Moreau, tying the game on the power-play. The Crusaders took their first lead of the weekend with 7:36 to play in the period, when Moreau found Lulu Roarke for a one-time try, beating Blair with their second power-play score and making it a 2-1 affair. In the waning minutes of the period, Alyson Hush (Scarborough, Ontario) put away a one-time feed from Addison Spitz (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) while on a two-on-one rush, tying the game at 2-2.
Holy Cross regained their lead midway through the third period when the Crusaders' Moreau took a feed from Reghan Chadwick before beating Blair to make it a 3-2 game. The Crusaders' defense held on for the final 10 minutes, bringing about the final 4-3 score.
Six different Wildcats logged points in the loss, paced by scores from Linn and Hush, while six players logged a positive plus/minus score. Additionally, 13 different players directed a shot on net, led by seven from Botterill and another six from Linn. Defensively, Cabral blocked a team-leading two shots while Blair turned away 18-of-21 shots faced, good for an .857 save percentage.
