Goncalves was the 2024 America East Striker of the Year
LONG BEACH, Calif. - Graduate student forward Matthew Goncalves (Everett, Mass.) of the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team is ranked No. 54 in the Top Drawer Soccer Top 100 National Player Rankings. The ranking includes sophomores, juniors and seniors from around the nation.
Goncalves, who was named the America East Striker of the Year, earned All-Conference First Team and All-Academic Team honors. He was also a first-team All-ECAC selection. Goncalves led the team with 10 goals and 22 points this season, while he was also first with four game-winning goals.
He ranked first in the conference in goals per game (.588) and was second in points per game (1.29) and game-winning goals. His four game-winning goals were 16th in the country, while he was 29th in goals per game. He tied for ninth in program history for goals for a season. Goncalves was a two-time recipient of the America East Offensive Player of the Week Award.
The Wildcats concluded the season with a 7-3-7 overall record and a 4-1-2 mark in the conference. UNH won its sixth straight regular season championship. This was the first time in conference history that a team has won six straight.
