UNH in Third Place After Day 1 of Dartmouth Carnival

Luci Anderson and Isac Hedström each placed fourth.
LYME, N.H. – Senior captain Luci Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.) placed fourth in the 1.3K sprint freestyle and sophomore Isac Hedström (Are, Sweden) was fourth in the giant slalom to lead the University of New Hampshire ski team on Day 1 of the Dartmouth Carnival on Friday.
The women's team was second in the 1.3K sprint freestyle with 99 points, while the men's team was sixth with 75 points. The men's Alpine team placed fourth in the giant slalom with 81 points and the women's team posted an eighth-place finish with 60 points.
UNH is currently in third place overall out of 14 teams with 315 points. Vermont leads the carnival with 484 points, while Dartmouth is second (366), Colby is fourth (303) and Middlebury is fifth (285).
The Dartmouth Carnival will conclude on Saturday, Feb. 10 with the 15K classic and the slalom.

RESULTS
Anderson qualified for the finals and placed fourth overall with a time of 3:05.47 for 41 points. Senior Lea Stabaek Wenaas (Oslo, Norway) finished ninth overall to pick up 31 points as she was fifth in her semifinal heat (3:05.65). Sophomore Hattie Barker (Underhill, Vt.) secured 27 points placing 16th as she was third in her quarterfinal heat (3:04.71), while sophomore Emma Charles (Farmington, Maine) also finished in the top 20 at 19th as she was fourth in her quarterfinal heat (3:03.99).
On the men's side, junior Eli Gore (Madison, Wis.) placed eighth overall gaining 33 points as he recorded a time of 2:36.51 in his semifinal heat. Graduate student Charles Martell (Exeter, N.H.) picked up 26 points at 14th, placing third in his quarterfinal heat (2:33.52). Senior captain Seth Wyatt (Bozeman, Mont.) totaled 16 points at 29th placing sixth in his quarterfinal heat.
Hedström led the men's Alpine team as he placed fourth (1:48.07) and tallied 41 points. Graduate student Hunter Brayton (Waterville Valley, N.H.) also posted a top-10 finish at seventh (1:48.13) tallying 35 points, while sophomore Zachary Temertzoglou (Toronto, Ontario) rounded out the scoring for the Wildcats at 46th (1:53.99) and five points.
Sophomore Tilde Kandell tied for eighth (1:52.92) to secure 32 points. Junior Gaia Palamara (Verona, Italy) totaled 18 points at 24th (1:54.89) and junior Maia Garfield (Meriden, N.H.) was 38th (1:57.01) recording 10 points.
