Jasmine Lyons Leads ‘Cats on Day One of Colby Carnival

UNH is currently in fifth place.
CARRABASSETT VALLEY/WATERVILLE, Maine – Senior captain Jasmine Lyons (Ottawa, Ontario) led the Wildcats with a second-place finish in the 7.5K skate as the University of New Hampshire ski team competed on Day 1 of the Colby Carnival.
The women's Nordic team was third with 100 points, while the men's Nordic team was also third with 86 points. The Alpine team competed in the giant slalom as the men were sixth with 62 points and the women were seventh with 55 points.
UNH is currently in fifth place overall out of 14 teams with 303 points. Dartmouth leads the carnival with 453.5 points, while Vermont is second (402), Middlebury is third (374) and Colby is fourth (326).

Alpine: Giant Slalom/Sugarloaf Mountain
RESULTS
Lyons secured 47 points by placing second as she posted a time of 19:32. Sophomore Hattie Barker (Underhill, Vt.) tallied a top-10 finish at eighth place (20:08) and earned 33 points. Sophomore Emma Charles (Farmington, Maine) rounded out the scoring for the Wildcats by picking up 20 points at 23rd (21:12).
The men also had an outstanding performance with three top-15 finishes. Junior Nathan Maybach (Boise, Idaho) led the men's Nordic team totaling 31 points at ninth (17:33), while senior captain Seth Wyatt (Bozeman, Mont.) was 11th (17:45) capturing 29 points. Junior Eli Gore (Madison, Wis.) placed 15th (17:48) with 26 points.
Sophomore Isac Hedstrom (Are, Sweden) led the men's alpine in the giant slalom with a 15th-place finish (1:44.84) and 26 points. Junior Mons Langaard (Oslo, Norway) tallied 20 points at 22nd (1:45.66) and graduate student Hunter Brayton (Waterville Valley, N.H.) placed 29th (1:46.83) in his UNH debut earning 16 points.
Graduate student Cassie Lieblein (Harrisburg, Pa.) was the top finisher for the women in her UNH debut at 23rd (1:48.69) and 21 points. Sophomore Tilde Kandell (Leksand, Sweden) posted 18 points at 28th (1:51.08) and senior Gaia Palamara (Verona, Italy) was 31st (1:51.34) and gained 16 points.
