Isac Hedström Wins Slalom at Colby Carnival; Peder Nersnaes Places Third

Men’s Alpine team places first in the slalom.
CARRABASSETT VALLEY/WATERVILLE, Maine – Sophomore Isac Hedström (Are, Sweden) won the slalom for his first collegiate first-place finish and the men's Alpine team captured the slalom points title as the University of New Hampshire ski team concluded action at the Colby Carnival. Senior captain Peder Nersnaes (Oslo, Norway) was also outstanding with a third-place finish.
The men's Alpine team won the slalom with 121 points, while the women's team was third with 93 points. On the Nordic side, the men's team was fifth in the 20K classic with 80 points and the women's team was seventh with 64 points.
UNH placed fourth overall out of 14 teams with 658 points. Dartmouth won the carnival with 912.5 points, while Vermont was second (783), Middlebury was third (729) and Colby was fifth (635.5).

RESULTS
Hedström won the slalom in a combined time of 1:41.22 to capture 50 points. Nersnaes tallied 44 points with his third-place finish (1:41.49), while senior Hayden Dahl (Plymouth, N.H.) picked 27 points at 13th (1:42.18). Graduate student Hunter Brayton (Waterville Valley, N.H.) gave the 'Cats four top-20 finishers when he placed 20th (1:42.95).
On the women's side, the Wildcats recorded two top-10 finishes as junior Zoe Michael (Sydney, Australia) was eighth (1:40.85) securing 33 points and graduate student Cassie Lieblein (Harrisburg, Pa.) was ninth (1:40.94) earning 31 points. Sophomore Tilde Kandell (Leksand, Sweden) also had a strong performance gaining 29 points at 11th (1:41.15).
Two Wildcats posted top-10 finishes for the men's Nordic team as junior Roger Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.) was eighth with a time of 56:24.5 and graduate student Charles Martell (Exeter, N.H.) was 10th (56:56.7) picking up 31 points. Freshman Miguel Fresco-Hanlon (Minneapolis, Minn.) posted 27 points as he placed 14th (57:15.2) and junior Eli Gore (Madison, Wis.) was 19th (57:49.0) with 22 points.
Sophomore Hattie Barker (Underhill, Vt.) led the women's Nordic team with a 16th-place finish (1:07.21) earning 25 points. Sophomore Emma Barsness (Glenwood Springs, Colo.) was 26th (1:10.01) posting 20 points and sophomore Emma Charles (Farmington, Maine) rounded out the scoring for the Wildcats by picking up 19 points at 27th (1:10:20).
