DURHAM, N.H. – University of New Hampshire men's basketball player, junior Clarence Daniels (Brooklyn Park, Minn) was named to the NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches) All-District 1 Second Team for his outstanding play this season.
There are 24 districts within Division 1 college basketball that the NABC separates the teams and their players into. The America East and the MAAC (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) make up District 1. Daniels was the lone player from the America East to be named to either the first or second team. The All-District honors are voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division I.
Daniels, who was named to the America East All-Conference first team, started and played in all 30 games, averaging 15.3 points per game, 10.7 rebounds per game, and 1.3 steals in 34.2 minutes per contest. His league-leading 10.7 RPG rank tied for seventh in the NCAA. In his first year with the Wildcats, Daniels recorded 15 double-doubles, the most in the America East, and tied for the 12th most in the country.
His 15.3 PPG ranked fourth in the America East while his 1.3 SPG is tied for the fourth-highest mark in the league. Playing in 34.2 MPG had him ranked third in the America East. He earned two America East player of the week nods during the regular season.
Daniels helped lead the Wildcats to the America East semifinals where they fell to the eventual conference runner-up, UMass Lowell. This is the first time a Wildcat has been named to an NABC All-District team since Tanner Leissner was named to the 2016-17 District 1 Second Team.
