‘Cats Take Home Two First-Place Finishes at New England Championships

BOSTON, MASS.- The University of New Hampshire men's track and field team traveled to Boston on Thursday for the NEICAAA Championships at the TRACK at New Balance with the conclusion of the event coming Friday afternoon.
Out of 27 teams competing in the New England Championships, the 'Cats finished with 29 points to tie with two other teams for a ninth-place finish.
FIELD EVENTS
Graduate Student Kevin McGrath (Hopkinton, N.H.) podiumed in the high jump with a mark of 6' 6.75" (2.0m) to finish third out of 22 competitors.
Junior Joshua Hoffman (Litchfield, N.H.) put together the best individual performance for the Wildcats with a personal-best throw of 56' 2.5" (17.13m) to win the shot put event.
Senior Andrew Fleming (Acton, Mass.) led the 'Cats in the weight throw with a toss of 52' 10" (16.12m) to finish 12th while sophomore Max Rome (North Kingstown, R.I.) finished close behind with a mark of 52' 2" (15.91m) good for a 14th place finish.
RUNNING EVENTS
With the four-man team of senior William Curran (Old Saybrook, Conn.), senior Kenney McElroy (West Linn. Ore.), senior Dillon Adamy (Lebanon, N.J.), and junior Zack Plaza (Auburn, N.H.), the 'Cats came out on top in the 4x800m relay race with a time of a 7:42.06.
In the distance medley, the squad of sophomore Brayden Kearns (Deerfield, N.H.), freshman Nathan Fletcher (Portsmouth, N.H.), freshman John Murphy (Deerfield, N.H.), and freshman Samuel Hilts (Concord, N.H.) finished 7th with a time of 10:17.07.

The Wildcats host UMass Lowell in a dual meet on Thursday, Feb. 9 at Paul Sweet Oval in a one-day competition.
