‘Cats Come Out Victorious in Final Home Meet of Indoor and Outdoor Seasons

DURHAM, N.H.- The University of New Hampshire men's track and field team won their last home meet of the indoor and outdoor seasons in a tri-meet with UMass Lowell and Vermont Thursday afternoon at Paul Sweet Oval.
The Wildcats finished the day with 80 points as a team, UMass Lowell scored 48 points, and Vermont scored 4 points.
RESULTS
FIELD EVENTS
Senior Andrew Fleming (Acton, Mass.) had a throw of 53' 5" (16.30m) to place first in the weight throw while sophomore Max Rome (North Kingston, R.I.) finished second with a throw of 52' 10 (16.12m).
Freshman Caden Zalenski (Milford, N.H.) came in second place in the shot put with a throw of 48' 2" (14.68m) to lead the Wildcats.
Graduate student Kevin McGrath (Hopkinton, N.H.) won the high jump with a leap of 6' 7" (2.01m).
Junior Andrew Kelly (Portsmouth, N.H.) finished second in the long jump with a distance of 20' 2.25" (6.15m) while freshman Cameron Jacobs (Naugatuck, Conn.) came in third place, jumping 19' 6.75" (5.96m).
RUNNING EVENTS
In the 1-mile run, freshman Samuel Hilts (Concord, N.H.) finished in first place with a time of 4:17.57, half a second off his personal best of 4:17.18. Sophomore Kevin Finn (Kennebunk, Maine) came in second place with a time of 4:26.14.
In the 400m run, freshman Nathan Fletcher (Portsmouth, N.H.) had a first-place finish with a time of 50.21 seconds.
Senior Kenney McElroy (West Linn. Ore.) won the 500m run with a time of 1:07.88 while senior Dillon Adamy (Lebanon, N.J.) finished second with a time of 1:08.83.
The 'Cats had an impressive trio in the 1000m run with sophomore Brayden Kearns (Deerfield, N.H) pacing the pack to a first-place finish with a time of 2:30.67. Freshman John Murphy (Deerfield, N.H.) placed second, clocking in at 2:30.99 while junior Yassine Jakib (Meredith, N.H.) came in third with a time of 2:41.91.
Freshman Michael Mulcahy won the 200m dash with a time of 24.01 seconds while freshman Sam Street tallied a second-place finish at 24.04 seconds.
In the 3000m run, freshman Zachary Hooper (Concord, N.H.) placed first with a time of 8:52.59 while freshman Peyton Ramsey (Plainville, Conn.) finished second, crossing the finish line at 8:53.88.
The four-man team of McElroy, Adamy, Hilts, and Kearns came in first place in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:35.81.
