Granstrom's Fourth Place Highlights Saturday's NCAA East Regional/EISA Championships

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Sophomore Beth Granstrom (Revelstoke, British Columbia) placed fourth in the women's 20k classic Saturday to highlight six Top-10 finishes for the University of New Hampshire ski team on the final day of the NCAA East Regional/EISA Championships.
UNH recorded 363 points Saturday and 731 total to finish third overall behind the University of Vermont (970) and Dartmouth College (891) in the 14-team field.

RESULTS
Granstrom finished the 20k classic course at Mount van Hoevenberg in 1 hour, 3 minutes and 19.4 seconds to earn fourth place; she finished only 1.1 seconds behind the second-place finisher.
Junior Lea Stabaek Wenaas (Oslo, Norway) recorded her second Top-10 effort of the weekend with eighth place in a time of 1:03:59.8; she also placed eighth in Friday's 5k skate. Senior Luci Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.), who won Friday's Nordic race, skied to 14th place in Saturday's classic with a time of 1:04:44.9.
That trio combined for a total of 102 points, which ranked third. Although she did not earn team points toward the NCAAs/EISAs, freshman Hattie Barker (Underhill, Vt.) crossed the finish line in 1:05:29.8 for 16th place.
UNH's women's alpine recorded the Wildcats' top team score Saturday with 104 points, which ranked second among the 14 teams in the slalom. Freshmen Hedda Martelleur (Uppsala, Sweden) and sophomore Zoe Michael (Sydney, Australia) finished 5-6 to lead a trio of 'Cats in the top 13.
Martelleur recorded the third-fastest time of 56.7 seconds in the Run 2 to climb into fifth place with an aggregate time of 1:55.32. Michael had a two-run time of 1:55.74 – only .42 behind her teammate – to earn sixth place. Senior Emma Kearing (Carrabasset Valley, Maine) closed out UNH's scoring with a 13th-place effort of 1:56.91.
In the men's Nordic 20k classic, senior Scott Schulz (Lake Placid, N.Y.) crossed the finish line in 55:10.8 to earn sixth place; it marked his second Top 10 effort of the weekend, as Schulz placed seventh in Friday's 10k skate.
Three other Wildcats finished in the Top 20 as UNH recorded the fourth highest team score of 91 points. Sophomore Roger Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.) took 13th place in 56:33.7, followed by junior Seth Wyatt (Bozeman, Mont.) in 16th at 56:44.1 and sophomore Eli Gore (Madison, Wis.) in 19th at 57:21.3.
UNH's men's alpine ranked sixth in the slalom with 66 points. Junior Peder Nersnaes (Oslo, Norway) was the top 'Cat in eighth place with a combined time of 1:49.65. Senior Marius Solbakken (Bekkestua, Norway) was next in 27th place with a time of 1:51.94 and grad student Max Bervy (Vail, Colo.) raced to 29th place in 1:52.44.
New Hampshire returns to action March 8-11 at the NCAA Championships, which will be held at the sites of the NCAA Regional/EISA Championships competitions: Whiteface Mountain and Mount Van Hoevenberg.
