Luci Anderson Wins NCAA East Regional and EISA 5K Skate Championship

Wildcats capture women’s 5K Skate title.
LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Senior Luci Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.) captured the 5K skate title and the women's Nordic team won the 5K skate team championship on Friday at Mt. Van Hoevenberg to lead the University of New Hampshire ski team on the first day of the NCAA East Regional/EISA Championships.
UNH is third overall out of 14 teams with 368 points. Vermont is first with 466 points, while Dartmouth is second (465), Middlebury is fourth (337) and Colby is fifth (262).

Friday, Feb. 24
Nordic-Mt. Van Hoevenberg (Women-5K Skate, Men-10K Skate)
Alpine-Whiteface Mountain (Giant Slalom)
RESULTS
The women's Nordic team placed first with 122 points posting three top-10 performances. Anderson secured 50 points by winning the championship (14:10.3), while freshman Hattie Barker (Underhill, Vt.) recorded 39 points with a fifth-place finish (14:46.8). Junior Lea Stabaek Wenaas (Oslo, Norway) picked up 33 points at eighth (14:49.7). Sophomore Beth Granstrom (Revelstoke, British Columbia) also had a strong performance placing 15th (15:03.4).
On the men's side the Wildcats were fourth with 88 points and were led by senior Scott Schulz (Lake Placid, N.Y.) who was seventh in the 10K skate (25:30.8) for 35 points. Junior Seth Wyatt (Bozeman, Mont.) picked up 28 points at 15th (26:18.6). Junior James Schneider (Plymouth, Minn.) gave the Wildcats their third top 20 finish at 20th (26:46.2) taking 25 points. Sophomore Roger Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.) was right behind Schneider at 21st (26:52.1).
The men's Alpine team placed fourth in the giant slalom with 86 points. Senior Marius Solbakken (Bekkestua, Norway) led the Wildcats at seventh (2:07.75) as he tallied 35 points. Freshman Isac Hedstrom (Are, Sweden) secured 30 points at 11th (2:08.40). Junior Peder Nersnaes (Oslo, Norway) recorded 21 points placing 21st (2:10.05).
The women's Alpine team placed sixth in the giant slalom totaling 72 points. Senior Emma Kearing (Carrabassett Valley, Maine) led the way picking up 28 points at 12th (2:15.73), while freshman Hedda Martelleur (Uppsala, Sweden) was 18th (2:16.21) recording 23 points. Senior Lisa Olsson (Stockholm, Sweden) earned 21 points at 20th (2:16.44).
