Audrey Mahoney and 200 Free Relay Capture Gold on Day 2 of America East Championships

WORCESTER, Mass. – Freshman Audrey Mahoney (Downers Grove, Ill.) captured gold in the 50 freestyle and the Wildcats won the 200 freestyle relay as the University of New Hampshire swimming and diving team is currently in first place after day two of the four-day America East Championships at the WPI Sports and Recreation Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
50 FREESTYLE
Mahoney won her first individual America East title in a personal best time of 23.17.
Junior Abby McKinney (Westfield, N.J.) and senior Olivia Stille (Stockholm, Sweden) also had outstanding performances as they each won bronze with a time of 23.83.
Sophomore Chiara Maria Pradissitto (Milan, Italy) placed sixth with a time of 23.94.
200 FREESTYLE RELAY
The team of McKinney, senior Olivia Stille (Stockholm, Sweden), sophomore Chiara Maria Pradissitto (Milan, Italy) and Mahoney won the 200 freestyle championship with a time of 1:33.35 giving the Wildcats their second relay gold of the championships.
500 FREESTYLE
The Wildcats also had four athletes qualify for the A finals of the 500 freestyle. Senior captain Jamy Lum (Honolulu, Hawaii) led UNH with a fourth-place finish at 4:56.36, while junior Hannah Devine (Hamilton, N.J.) was fifth with a personal best time of 4:59.25.
Senior captain Madison Linstedt (Marion, Ohio) also recorded a personal best time (4:59.83) to earn a sixth-place finish, while freshman Carolyn Nelson (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) was seventh (5:00.99).
200 IM
Freshman Ella Guilfoil (Fairport, N.Y.) won her first America East medal by taking bronze with a personal best time of 2:03.00.
Graduate student Shelby Kasse (Hoofddorp, Netherlands) placed sixth with a time of 2:06.21.
