Multi-year honors for Mahoney (three) & Mahon (two); Leblic feted in first season as Wildcat
BOSTON – Senior captain Audrey Mahoney (Downers Grove, Ill.), junior captain Grace Mahon (Orange, Conn.) and junior Sydney Leblic (Madrid, Spain) of the UNH swimming & diving team were each named to the 2026-26 America East Swimming & Diving All-Academic Team.
Mahoney, a health management and policy major with a 3.95 cumulative grade point average, was honored for the third straight year. The 2024-25 America East Swimming & Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year followed up with an exceptional senior campaign. At last month's America East Championships, hosted by VMI, Mahoney received the David Alexander Coaches Award for scoring the most career championship points among seniors who have exhausted their eligibility. She was part of the record-setting team that set both a UNH and AE-championship record in winning gold in the 400 freestyle relay (3:21.08, including 49.53 seconds in lead-off leg). She also earned silver in the 200 free, 100 free, 50 free, 200 free relay (set school record) and 400 medley relay at AE Championships.
Other season highlights included winning the 50 free versus UConn at Swasey Pool (Jan. 23), taking gold in the 50 free and 100 free vs URI at Swasey Pool (Jan. 12) and winning the 50 free and 100 free at Northeastern (Dec. 6). Mahoney set a Tootell Aquatic Center pool record and meet record in the 100 fly at URI's Harold Anderson Invitational on Nov. 23 – it was the third time she broke a record held by former U.S. Olympian Jenny Thompson this season. She also broke Thompson's 50 yard free pool record on Nov. 22 as part of the same event. Additionally, Mahoney set Siena Swim Center pool records in the 100 free, 50 free (broke her own record) and was a member of the pool-record 200 yard medley relay (Nov. 1). Mahoney was named America East Swimmer of Week on Oct. 28 after setting the Swasey Pool record in the 50 free, supplanting Thompson (1990), and she also won gold in the 100 free and anchored two winning relays (400 yard medley, 200 yard medley). She opened her senior season Oct. 18 by setting the pool record at UVM's Forbush Natatorium in 50 free while also topping the podium in the 100 free.
Mahon made it back-to-back AE All-Academic Team honors by compiling a 3.90 cumulative GPA as a psychology major. The Orange, Conn., native was a member of the record-setting team that set both a UNH and America East-championship record in the 400 free relay in winning gold at AE Championships. Individually, she won silver in the 100 fly, bronze in the 200 fly, silver as a member of the 200 free relay team that set a school record, and she took home another silver as a member of the 400 yard medley relay team. Other season highlights included winning the 100 fly vs UConn on Jan. 23, capturing gold in the 200 fly and 100 fly vs URI on Jan. 12 and winning the 200 fly and 100 fly at Northeastern on Dec. 6. In addition, Mahon set a meet and pool record in the 100 fly and was a member of the pool-record 400 medley relay team at URI's Harold Anderson Invitational on Nov. 23. She was also a member of the pool-record 200 yard medley relay team and won individual gold in the 100 fly at the Siena Swim Center on Nov. 1. She opened the season with victories in the 200 fly and 100 fly at Vermont on Oct. 18.
Leblic earns America East All-Academic recognition in her first season as a Wildcat. The Virginia Tech transfer boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA as a nutrition, dietetics major. At the AE Championships, Leblic won gold as a member of the 800 free relay team, earned silver in the 400 IM and was a member of the record-setting gold-medal winning team that set both a UNH and America East-championship record in the 400 free relay. The native of Madrid, Spain, claimed silver as a member of the 200 free relay team and placed fourth in the 200 IM.
To be eligible for All-Academic, student-athletes must have sophomore athletic eligibility, attain a 3.30 minimum grade-point average and be a contributor on their team. The squad is voted on by a committee made up of America East student-athlete support staff, athletic communications administrators as well as faculty athletic representatives.
