Multiple Wildcats Set New Personal Bests at America East Indoor Championships

BOSTON, MASS. - Graduate student Kevin McGrath (Hopkinton, N.H.) claimed his second consecutive conference title in the high jump as the University of New Hampshire men's track and field team competed in the America East Indoor Championships at the TRACK at New Balance in Boston this weekend.
As a team, the Wildcats tallied 49 points to earn an eighth-place finish.
RESULTS
FIELD EVENTS
McGrath secured the individual conference championship in the high jump with a height of 6' 8.25" (2.04m).
The Wildcats had three top-10 finishes in the weight throw with senior Andrew Fleming (Acton, Mass.) leading the way with a throw of 55' (16.76m) to come in fourth place. Sophomore Max Rome (North Kingston, R.I.) finished sixth, reaching a distance of 53' 5" (16.29m) which is a new personal-best. Freshman Liam McGovern (North Kingston, R.I.) also set a new personal-best with a throw of 52' 11.5" (16.14m).
Junior Joshua Hoffman (Litchfield, N.H.) came in fourth place in the shot put, reaching a distance of 51' 8.5" (15.76m) to lead the 'Cats. Freshman Caden Zalenski (Milford, N.H.) threw to a mark of 48' 1.25" (14.66m) to finish eighth.
In the Heptathlon, junior Andrew Kelly (Portsmouth, N.H.) finished sixth overall with 4,246 points. Out of the seven events he competed in, his best mark was a second-place finish in the long jump, reaching a distance of 21' 7.25" (6.58m). He also finished third in the high jump portion of the event, leaping 6' 0.5" (1.84m).
TRACK EVENTS
Sophomore Aidan Shea (Amherst, Mass.) tallied a second-place finish in the 1-mile run, finishing with a time of 4:08.50. Freshman Samuel Hilts (Concord, N.H.) finished with a time of 4:16.23 to set a new personal-best in the mile run.
Senior William Curran (Old Saybrook, Conn.) logged a time of 1:55.15 in the 800m run to place sixth. Senior Kenney McElroy (West Linn. Ore.) also finished in the top-10 with a time of 1:56.06.
Competing in the 3000m run, senior Aidan O'Hern (Concord, N.H.) finished with a time of 8:28.58 to finish in seventh place.
On day 1 of competitions, the distance medley relay race, the team of senior Dillon Adamy (Lebanon, N.J.), junior Adrian Sutton (Rochester, N.H.), McElroy, Curran, and freshman John Murphy (Deerfield, N.H.) raced to a sixth-place finish with a time of 10:12.12.
The next day, the team of Curran, McElroy, Adamy, and junior Zack Plaza (Auburn, N.H.) finished third in the 4x800m relay race.
Two Wildcats set new personal records in the 200m dash preliminaries on Saturday, Sutton finishing with a time of 22.58 seconds while freshman Sam Street clocked in at 23.01 seconds.

The Wildcats return to action on Friday, March 3 for the IC4A/ECAC Championships with the conclusion of the competition happening on Sunday, March 5.
