Luci Anderson Earns First-Place Finish on Second Day of Williams Carnival

Wildcats finish fourth.
WOODFORD, Vt. – Senior Luci Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.) was outstanding as she won the 5K skate on Saturday at Prospect Mountain to lead the University of New Hampshire ski team on the final day of the Williams Carnival.

UNH was fourth overall out of 14 teams with 669 points. Vermont won the Carnival with 897 points, while Dartmouth was second (772), Middlebury was third (710) and Harvard was fifth (534).

RESULTS

The women's Nordic team continued its stellar performance at the Williams Carnival placing second with 114 points. Anderson tallied 50 points with the win (12:04.6), while junior Lea Stabaek Wenaas (Oslo, Norway) picked up 41 points at fourth (12:23.0). Sophomore Beth Granstrom (Revelstoke, British Columbia) recorded 23 points with a 20th-place finish (12:49.1).

On the men's side the Wildcats were fifth with 74 points and were led by senior Scott Schulz (Lake Placid, N.Y.) who was fourth in the 10K skate (21:50.6) for 41 points. Sophomore Nathan Maybach (Boise, Idaho) was next for the Wildcats at 24th (23:01.5) with 19 points and junior Seth Wyatt (Bozeman, Mont.) was 33rd (23:14.7) with 14 points.

The men's Alpine team placed seventh in the giant slalom posting 64 points. Senior Marius Solbakken (Bekkestua, Norway) had the top performance for the Wildcats at 11th (1:37.90) as he totaled 29 points. Sophomore Mons Langaard (Oslo, Norway) secured 26 points at 15th (1:38.49), while junior Hayden Dahl (Plymouth, N.H.) tallied nine points at 36th (1:40.91).

The women's Alpine team placed eighth in the giant slalom with 63 points. Senior Lisa Olsson (Stockholm, Sweden) earned 24 points at 16th (1:42.85) and freshman Hedda Martelleur (Uppsala, Sweden) was 21st (1:42.96) posting 20 points. Sophomore Zoe Michael (Sydney, Australia) was right behind at 22nd (1:43.01) and 19 points.
