Lisa Olsson’s Second Place Finish Leads ‘Cats on Day 1 of Harvard Carnival

DUBLIN, N.H. – Graduate student Lisa Olsson (Stockholm, Sweden) placed second in the giant slalom on Friday at Waterville Valley to lead the University of New Hampshire ski team on the first day of the Harvard Carnival.
UNH is fourth overall out of 14 teams with 339 points. Dartmouth is first with 433 points, while Middlebury is second (365), Vermont is third (346) and Colby is fifth (284).

RESULTS
The women's Nordic team tallied 97 points with its fourth-place finish in the 10K Classic led by junior Lea Stabaek Wenaas (Oslo, Norway) and senior Luci Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.) who posted top-10 performances. Wenaas was seventh (33:16.4) recording 35 points, while Anderson was ninth (33:27.9) securing 33 points. Freshman Hattie Barker (Underhill, Vt.) collected 29 points at 13th (33:38.8).
On the men's side senior Scott Schulz (Lake Placid, N.Y.) was the top point scorer for the Wildcats placing fifth (28:55.2) for 39 points as UNH was fifth with 85 points. Sophomore Roger Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.) was 15th (29:52.0) for 27 points and sophomore Nathan Maybach (Boise, Idaho) was 30th (31:04.0) for 19 points.
The men's team was fourth in the giant slalom with 86 points. Freshman Isac Hedstrom (Are, Sweden) led the way capturing 35 points with a seventh-place finish (2:02.12). Senior Marius Solbakken (Bekkestua, Norway) also earned a top-10 finish at ninth (2:02.30) for 31points, while graduate student Max Bervy (Vail, Colo.) picked up 20 points for placing 21st (2:04.18).
The women's Alpine team placed sixth in the giant slalom with 71 points. Olsson totaled 47 points with her second-place finish (2:05.64). Freshman Hedda Martelleur (Uppsala, Sweden) was 17th (2:07.55) earning 24 points.
