Event to place take from Dec. 6-9 in Phoenix.
NEW YORK – Senior midfielder Yannick Bright (Milan, Italy) of the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team will attend the 2023 Major League Soccer College Showcase in Phoenix, Arizona from Dec. 6-9. There are a total of 44 invitees to the showcase. This is the second straight year that Bright has been invited to the event.
The four-day event will give technical staffs from every MLS club an opportunity to scout these top collegiate players ranging from freshmen to graduate students, participating in training sessions, testing, interviews and match play. The showcase is a closed-door scouting event officially sanctioned by the NCAA.
Bright won his third straight America East Midfielder of the Year this season as he is only the second student-athlete to win the award three times. He was also named to the All-Conference First Team for the third straight season and to the All-Academic Team for the second straight year. He just recently was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team for the second consecutive season.
Bright has earned numerous accolades during his career which include 2021 First Team All-America, 2022 Third Team All-America, 2021 MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist and 2022 America East Scholar Athlete of the Year. For his career he has three goals and eight assists for 14 points.
The Wildcats just concluded another outstanding season posting a 13-3-4 record (4-0-3 AE) and advancing to the Round of 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the third time in program history. UNH was the No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament which was the highest seed in program history. The Wildcats defeated defending national champions Syracuse, 3-0, in the second round and then fell to No. 9 seed and 2021 national champions Clemson, 1-0, in the first-ever Round of 16 game played at Wildcat Stadium.
UNH appeared in the NCAA Tournament for the seventh straight season as only four teams have made the NCAA Tournament seven consecutive seasons from 2017-23 (UNH, Indiana, Wake Forest and Georgetown).
The 'Cats won the America East Regular Season Championship for the fifth straight season and are only the second program to win five consecutive titles. UNH's 0.643 team goals against average ranks fourth in the nation, while its .750 winning percentage is ninth nationally.
