Senior goalie Jemma Woods stopped 12 of 13 shots in the losing effort for the Wildcats
EASTON, Pa. -- The University of New Hampshire field hockey team fell on the road, 1-0, at Lafayette on Sunday afternoon at Rappolt Field.
The Wildcats fall to 3-4 overall on the season with the loss, while the Leopards improve to 2-6 overall on the year.
"I think we had our opportunities early on and didn't finish on corners, which has been sort of a little bit of a nemesis for us right now," said UNH head coach Robin Balducci. "We had other opportunities where we were pressing and just not finishing, so hopefully we are working through this to get ready for conference play, that will be the priority."
Hannah Findlay scored the lone goal of the game for the Leopards in the second quarter off a tip from a shot by Molly McAndrew at 19:08.
Senior goalkeeper Jemma Woods (Frimley, England) stopped 12 of 13 shots for the Wildcats in the losing effort. Tamera Cookman (Woking, England), Tasmin Cookman (Woking, England) and Ava Mariani (Easton, Pa.) each registered two shots apiece for the 'Cats.Â
Lafaytette outshot UNH, 16-9 for the game, which included a 13-4 advantage in shots on goal, while the Leopards owned an 8-6 advantage on penalty corners. UNH owned a 3-0 shot advantage in the fourth quarter.
UNH returns to action Friday, September 23 at Maine in its America East opener. Game time from the UMaine Field Hockey Complex in Orono is 3 p.m. on ESPN3.
