DURHAM, N.H. – Sarah Mansfield-Lahl, first year head coach of the University of New Hampshire field hockey team, announced Monday that Vicky Tinghitella has joined the program as an assistant coach.
"We are excited to welcome Vicky as our new assistant field hockey coach," Mansfield-Lahl said. "Originally from Argentina, Vicky brings valuable diversity and a unique international perspective to our program, along with her playing experience from Kent State and the University of Maine. Her passion for the game, commitment to athlete development, and enthusiasm for building a positive team culture make her a tremendous addition to our coaching staff. We look forward to the positive impact she will have on our student-athletes both on and off the field."
Tinghitella was a four-year letterwinner at Kent State University before playing one year at Maine as a grad student and then remaining with the Black Bears as an assistant coach for the 2025 season.
The native of Lujan, Buenos Aires (Argentina) played all 69 games with 32 starts and received All-MAC Academic Honors three times at Kent State spanning the 2020-23 seasons. Tinghitella recorded one goal and seven assists for a total of nine points for the Flashes, who had a 26-7 record (.788 win percentage) in the MAC with a pair of first-place finishes.
Tinghitella started 12 of 19 games as a senior captain to help lead the team to the 2023 MAC championship game. Kent State had a 6-1 conference record in back-to-back seasons (2021 and 2022). The midfielder led the Flashes to an 11-3 overall record that included 9-3 in the MAC in the 2020-21 season.
In a grad year at Maine, Tinghitella started all 20 games and recorded 14 points on four goals and six assists. Those numbers ranked second on the team in assists and fourth in both goals and points. Tinghitella led the 2024 Black Bears to 11 wins and the America East semifinals.
"I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join UNH and be part of this program," Tinghitella said. "From the moment I connected with the staff, I felt welcomed and knew it was a place where I could grow and contribute. I'm excited to get to work, build meaningful relationships with the student-athletes, and help create something special together."
As an assistant coach in 2025, she helped guide Maine to the conference semifinals. Tinghitella's responsibilities included assistance with planning and coaching during practices and games, leading warm-ups, cool-downs and recovery routines, working with goalkeepers and supporting both penalty corner units.
Tinghitella graduated from Kent State with a B.S. in Sports Medicine in 2024 and received an M.Ed. in Kinesiology & Physical Education from Maine in 2026.
She also received a Diplomatura en Hockey Femenino (field hockey coaching diploma) from Asociacion Natatio Argentina in 2025.
