RESULTS
BURLINGTON, Vt. – Senior Kevin McGrath (Hopkinton, N.H.) and senior Michael Monahan (Tewksbury, Mass.) each won a gold medal as the University of New Hampshire men's track and field team competed on the final day of the America East Outdoor Championships at the University of Vermont. The Wildcats placed fourth overall with 82.5 points. UAlbany won the championship with 235 points.
Monahan won the gold medal in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.51.
McGrath captured gold in the high jump at 6'8.75". Sophomore Andrew Kelly (Portsmouth, N.H.) took bronze clearing the bar at a career-best 6'7", while senior Emmanuel Nkounkou (Dover, N.H.) tied for fifth at 6'3.25".
"I am very happy with this team with everything they had to go through this year," said UNH head coach Robert Hoppler. "I am very proud of what this team accomplished, across the board. "Kevin won both the indoor and outdoor championship, he has had to overcome some adversity to win that championship. Michael winning that championship in the hurdles was able to pull it out overcoming some injuries and you could tell the team's excitement for him."
Sophomore Joshua Hoffman (Litchfield, N.H.) set the school record in the discus with a throw of 179'1" to take silver. The previous record was set by Reed Liset in 2007 at 173'1".
"Josh continues our string of breaking school records in the discus as a sophomore from New Hampshire, he has worked very hard to achieve this and we are just starting to see how successful he can be," stated Hoopler. He is going to continue to be a great thrower for University of New Hampshire."
McGrath, Monahan, Hoffman and Kelly all earned All-Conference accolades for placing in the top three in an event.
