SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Senior Kevin McGrath (Hopkinton, N.H.) won a bronze medal as the University of New Hampshire men's track and field team competed on the first day of the New England Outdoor Championships at Bryant.

McGrath, who won the America East championship last week, placed third in the high jump as he cleared the bar at 6'8.75".

Senior John King Jr. (Derry, N.H.) led UNH in the javelin throw at 195'11" for a sixth-place finish, while freshman Thomas Mason (Nashua, N.H.) was 15th at 176'09".

Senior Brian Genet (Merrimack, N.H.) is currently in sixth place in the decathlon with 3,235 points.

Junior Andrew Fleming (Acton, Mass.) placed ninth in the hammer throw at a career-best distance of 183'09".

Junior Forest MacKenzie (Deerfield, N.H.) ran a personal-best time of 32:05.41 in the 10,000 meters to place ninth.

The Wildcats will conclude action at the New England Championships on Saturday, May 14.
