RESULTS
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Sophomore Joshua Hoffman (Litchfield, N.H.) won a gold medal and broke his own school record in the discus throw as the University of New Hampshire men's track and field team competed on the final day of the New England Outdoor Championships at Bryant. UNH tied for sixth out of 40 teams with 29 points.
Hoffman won the discus with a school-record throw of 185'3". Last week, he set the school record on May 8 at the America East Championships with a throw of 179'1". Last year, Hoffman won silver in the discus at the New England Championships at 156'1".
Senior Brian Genet (Merrimack, N.H.) placed sixth in the decathlon with a career-best 5,886 points.
Sophomore Zack Plaza (Auburn, N.H.) recorded a time of 1:52.44 to place sixth in the 800 meters.
Freshman Aidan Shea (Amherst, Mass.) placed eighth in the 1,500 meters with a career-best time of 3:50.91.
The 4x800 meter relay team of junior Kenney McElroy (West Linn, Ore.), junior William Curran (Old Saybrook, Conn.), Shea and Plaza were sixth with a time of 7:49.40.
